Australia’s most ambitious new pop duo ELLE return with Summer Baby, a lush, celebratory dance-pop track with a dark heart. Primarily written by singer st. James, Summer Baby is a tropical malady about feeling isolated, far from home, with no one to turn to but a doomed lover.

st. James: “This song feels to me like a form of self-destruction, knowing it’s gonna go up in flames and racing forward to light the match. We do things we shouldn’t to feel emotions that aren’t normal, to feel the adrenaline that comes with dangerous situations. Maybe it’s a toxic trait… but anyway, it’s the truth and that’s why I wrote about it.

Every summer I expect to be happy and at peace, and quite often I end up an absolute mess by my own hand. So I wanted to write a song that can be the soundtrack to a blissful summer, or a diabolical one - so you can ruin your life AND look good doing it.”
