Hungarian Gergely Álmos has proved himself a master of mature musical themes across previous albums, including releases for Sonar Kollektiv and his ‘Twenty-two 22’ LP in 2018 and ‘Études de Battement’ in 2020 on his Theque label. He has received support from BBC Radio 6 Music and played audio-visual festivals across London, Berlin, Prague and Rome. The new album is a collaboration with Polish singer Raf Skowroński, made over a year, where they invited musicians to join recordings in Katowice, Budapest and Szeged. 'Moving On' is an epic symphony of sound with crashing drums, spraying synths and a dramatic crescendo that leaves you breathless.

The title track, “Fold,” begins with a single drone that is quickly seized by a tight rhythmic undercurrent, which serves as the vessel drawing listeners downstream. At the mouth of this sonic estuary, a minimal and evolving melody appears triggering a gradual increase in energy. As the energy builds, a series of auxiliary sounds fly in and out of view before the entire track descends into an ambient interlude. A stream of bright stabs drives the track higher, eventually dropping the listener back into the groove alongside a subterranean bass line. The track culminates with the radiant glow of bells that eventually disappear leaving nothing more than the whispering decay of reverb tails.

In contrast, “MRY2” is darker and rife with complex sound design. These qualities are especially apparent in the opening moments of the track, in which coarse chunks of sound buzz wildly across the stereo field. “There are homegrown sounds all over this track,” explains Macionis regarding the sound design. “In fact, the rhythm was built around a recording of my washing machine.” His commitment to looking outside of the box for inspiration even motivated the name of the track. “I named the track after a specific memory slot on the Korg Volca Beats that stored the drum programming for the groove.”

Plaid contributes a remix of the title track to the EP, transporting the music into uncharted territory by way of the towering melodies and glitch beats that the duo is known for. Beginning with a single note from the original melody, the track takes off in a new direction. The groove is replaced by pointillistic patterns of synthesized drums, and a series of melodies shimmer overtop of a new harmonic progression. At times mysterious and cinematic, the music makes the listener feel as though they have fallen down a rabbit hole and wound up in some illusory wonderland.

"Arne Kappen grew up in Berlin, surrounded by Techno culture, but regrettably oblivious to it for most of his life. His interest in electronic music sparked late but quickly grew into a veritable passion. It started through the detour of building a DJ controller that never worked. Skipping the whole idea of DJing Arne went straight to drum machines and synthesizers. His setup now contains modular and desktop synths. He started playing live as part of the duo Anoserica teaching himself music production whenever he could find the time. His motivation was always fed by a curiosity to understand audio technology, experiencing the music and its culture on the dancefloor, and by learning about its origins and evolution. Now, he feels, he is ready to contribute a part of his own.

The EP is permeated with the feeling of instability, thus the name "unstet" - German for "unsteady". The tracks are minimalistic, detailed electronic ventures inspired more by spurious personal sentiments than rigid concept. The title track Unstet is about the feeling of barely maintaining a stable direction during times of rushing changes. At the Mercy of a Stranger's Gaze reflects on the visceral feeling of only perceiving oneself through others. The Throws restlessly shifts focus, never really settling.

Forward-facing in rhythm and melody, the EP offers meticulously-produced techno tracks. Emphasizing a driven mood, a feeling of being rushed and approaching one's limits. "

The Granada-born artist and adopted Berliner is a musical Chameleon, producing across the musical gamut – from surf-inspired electronica to Balearic, disco and beyond. Always fresh and positive, his inspired output has been like a moth to a flame for some of the industry’s finest tastemakers. Just ask WhoMadeWho and Major Lazer, who’ve both tapped him to support them at shows, while the likes of Paul Kalkbrenner and Fort Romeau have contributed remixes to his Jirafa Records imprint. On the production front, the sunny grooves of his ‘Chicken Mango’ EP was a recent standout and also saw Gerd Janson contribute a remix, while Spanish indie band Hinds featured on one of the cuts.
