Rubber Bullet Killer - work in progress

This in a new 4/4 140bpm dance track that uses a sample from Adele's 'Hometown Glory'. I've recently discovered the time stretch function in the software I used which came in handy when tweeking the sample. The whole track was composed and mixed using MAGIX music maker dance edition 3.

Home Town Dance (working title)

This is a completely new 4/4 125bpm dance track that incorporates some new VST plugin synths and samples - all available for free over the last couple of months with Computer Music magazine, thanks again CM magazine - including Cakewalk's Z3ta+ and Cableguys Curve CM. The whole track was composed and mixed using MAGIX music maker dance edition 3 and energy XT 2.5.3 

Funky disco breakin'

This is a new dubstep style track with a slightly slower tempo than usual at around 120bpm, which suited the two samples used. Both are taken from the Violent Femmes 'Colour Me Once' single which I have on The Crow soundtrack in chrome cassette tape format. The samples were recorded directly into my computer from an old cassette player I found in my garage. Bass and synth sounds were created using MAGIX Silver Synth (a TB303 clone) incorporating several layers, wave forms, effects and filters. The whole track was produced and mixed using MAGIX Music Maker Dance edition 3. 

Everything's gonna turn out nice

This is a new 125bpm track inspired by the old skool rave scheme of the late eighties/early nineties and contains a load of techno rave and jungle style samples, sounds and loops I've created or collected from various sources over the years. The punchy drum loop was created using Dirty Panda Drum Box CM which came free with an edition of CM Magazine (again, I can't thank this magazine enough for aiding a budding noise producer). The whole track was compiled and mixed using MAGIX music maker dance edition 3.

way back into time

This is a new tune that was inspired by a four bar ditty that I wrote using Korg DS10 on my wife's nintendo ds, and that I've also learned to draw in automation lines in my new DAW (the ones used in this tune are to adjust the low pass filter cut off on the two bass lines). The bass and synth sounds are made using cakewalk z3ta+ and the beats are made from sounds from my sample library. The whole track was composed and mixed using magix music maker MX.

automated inspiration

This is a new track that grew from a break beat and vocal sample I have in my library; and a challenge suggested in CM Magazine a few months back to produce and mix a track in 4 hours. This is the result. At 90 bpm with a hip-hop feel, its a bit different to some of my other uploads and could do with some additional vocals between 43 secs to 1min 20secs - Anyone fancy writing some additional vocals please feel free to download it (Tom - do you think this a track you could put something to?). The whole track was produced and mixed using magix music maker MX.   

Write it in the sky

This is a new track that I can up with after installing a new VST drum synth and a difficult few weeks in the real world - I'm not into lyrics but the vocal sample seemed appropriate. Using the new new drum synth I programmed a simple dubstep beat and slowed it down to 120bpm which seemed to fit the vocal, melody and 2 processed basslines used. The whole track was composed and produced using magix music maker MX. 

even when I'm down

This is a new work in progress dubstep track I've come up with. The track uses a number of royalty free Deckscar & Bill Posters samples available on the June 2012 edition of Computer Music Magazine. I've tried not to just use the samples as provided but have processed, compressed, bit crushed, time stretched, filtered and pitch altered to get a sound I like (I particularly like the transformer scratch style bass sound used at the end of each fourth bar which was created using a trance gate). And for the film buffs the vocals are a conversation between Mr White and Mr Orange. The whole track was composed and mixed using magix music maker MX.

freaks everbody out

This is a new 120bpm electro pop-ish track I've have been messing about with. I was having trouble with the melody as the synth was killing my pc's processor and had to settle on the koto plucked string sound in the final mix. I then fell across an accapella vocal track that came packaged with my DAW and with some tweaks the whole thing fell in place. The whole track was produced and mixed using magix music maker MX.  

kept my heart on fire (don't leave me)

It's been several months since I posted anything as I have been tinkering about with a number of new tracks and ideas. This isn't any of them - this is something that came to me in a flash of inspiration while reviewing my sample library. This new 128bpm dance track uses a number of royalty free Prime Loop samples that have been tweaked, EQ'ed, processed, compressed, filtered and FX'ed. The whole track was produced and mixed using magix music maker MX.

the end of the show

Christmas is over for another year and the snow has finally melted (well here in the south anyway) and thought it about time I got back behind the midi keyboard and uploaded a new track. This year I plan to learn about mastering, so this is my first attempt at a mastered track. This new song evolved from the 'acoustic guitar' riff at the beginning. The whole track was written, produced, mixed and mastered using magix music maker MX and a number of VST plug in synths and effects. 

El Mariachi

this is my latest song that grew from a simple repeating 8 bar kick and snare track and bassline I wrote using Curve2CM my new free vst plugin synth. It is a piece of classic 120bpm 4 x 4 synth heavy bassy dance music - enjoy. The whole track was written, mixed and mastered using magix MX.

beautiful curves

this new repetitive beats song was inspired by and uses two samples from Dirty Paws by Of Monsters and Men (the guitars and vocal parts). I came up with the arpeggiated dirty bass while messing about with the settings in the Dune VST plugin synth. The tempo is slower than normal at 110bpm but seemed to fit the song better than a faster one. Hope you like. The whole track was written, mixed and mastered using magix MX.

This is my latest offering, which is a Faithless/Example inspired 128bpm 4/4 dance track. The song uses a chopped up and processed sample from Example's 'The Way', everything else was written, programmed, produced and mastered by me using magix mx.
