INDXSTRIAL STRXNGTH takes a not-so-serious approach to seriously heavy techno. Her sets comprise of relentless acid, 90’s inspired rave tunes and huge thumping kicks, with the occasional fun vocal and electro-style break thrown in for good measure.

An exciting newcomer to the London techno scene, INDXSTRIAL STRXNGTH learned to mix in 2019, enraptured by the spirit of the underground student events which salvaged the night life of Durham City. After moving to London during lockdown, she has had time to soak up the sound of her new city and hone her skills, creating outrageous guest mixes for the likes of Not Bad For A Girl, and landing a residency at North London powerhouse Strange DNA. INDXSTRIAL STRXNGTH is poised to let loose on London clubs, with warehouse-destined sets which can only be described as an assault on the senses.

MASS Sessions #189 | INDXSTRIAL STRXNGTH

For this instalment of the Altered Reality series I've decided to make a drum machine sample library of the famous Yamaha TX7, using FM synthesis and audio manipulation to produce extremely hard hitting drum samples.

The theme for this project was to make off-kilter sounds that were also extreme but could also be easily manipulated further, to showcase this I have also Included 5 drum loops made up from the samples as well as 3 presets for Ableton Live & Logic Pro.

The sample pack consists of:

15 Toms

15 Cymbals

15 Glitches

2 Perc Loops

 As a musician, you must give yourself space to create while listening to music. The practice I mean is to constantly try to play, to find your own expression in music. In the early creation, I I like to work with many musicians from different international music backgrounds. Now I enjoy the actual life to record. In the morning temple, in the subway, in the park, you can collect these interesting music materials. One of my favorite things in my creation is to cover my eyes with the eye mask to play the Erhu , I can only listen to it and play the erhu in a dark place. There will always be an infinite amount of musical expression.

Raised in the lush West Sichuan Basin and currently based in the energetic city of Shanghai: Temple Rat is a highly skilled producer, DJ and musician who pushes and innovates the fusion of forward thinking techno blended Chinese traditional music and  her own playing of the ancient two stringed Chinese instrument Ehru. 

Over the last few years Temple Rat has gathered fans from across the globe with her re-imagining of Chinese traditional music and in 2019 her debut Boiler Room attracted a great deal of attention as the magic of the music captivated the Shanghai club goers. 

Temple Rat released their debut project Spring Dawn in August 2019: The EP is a captivating work that continues to merge the two worlds of traditional and present day by using forward thinking beautifully recorded sounds and punchy perfectly mixed drums. The future is brighter than ever for China’s electronic music scene as it rapidly becomes one of the most exciting and prominent spaces for dance music in the world, and Temple Rat is for sure one of the brightest artists at the forefront.
