Lifting listeners into a sky-high dimension, UK duo NIGHTLAPSE make their Purified Records debut with ‘Weightless’. Forming an instant connection with listeners during Nora En Pure’s DJ Mag Top 100 stream from Bali, this melodic cut provides a sonic escape with rippling synth work and soaring vocals. 

The ‘Weightless’ artwork features a powerful underwater still, shot by Daniel Nicholson. For decades, large corporations have poisoned rivers, devastated forests, and displaced communities. Now, they’re rushing to mine minerals from the last untouched frontier on the planet — the deep sea. The deep sea may be vast and unexplored, but it is incredibly important. It encompasses 95% of the ocean’s volume and is the largest and least explored of Earth’s ecosystems. Some scientists believe that the deep sea and its water column may be the largest carbon sink on Earth, and new species are still being found there. Deep-sea mining would dwarf all other mining operations in human history, and it would take place in a part of the planet that we are only just now beginning to understand. If this dangerous experiment goes wrong, it risks triggering a domino effect of unintended consequences that could destabilize the ocean, trigger food insecurity, and affect all life on Earth. Following their label debut ‘Heights’, French production duo Weltmusik return to Purified Records with their majestic two-track ‘Lonely Roads’ EP. Opening with a touching vocal offering, the title track glides across a pristine arrangement with soaring synths, silky vocals and driving percussive elements. Flowing into ‘Crowded Skies’, Weltmusik devise a dreamy soundscape through lofty synths and intricate instrumentals, pushed along by deep rolling bass.

The ‘Lonely Roads’ EP artwork features an aerial image of a coral reef by Daniel Nicholson. Coral reefs, known as the rainforests of the sea, hold a wealth of biodiversity and provide shelter for countless marine species. These intricate structures, formed by the calcium carbonate skeletons of coral polyps, serve as vital breeding grounds and habitats for marine life. Their vibrant colors and unique shapes belie the delicate balance that exists between the coral organisms and the algae that call them home. As climate change drives coral bleaching events, organizations such as the Coral Reef Alliance work towards coral reef conservation and restoration. Acknowledging the significance of coral reefs as not only ecological treasures but also essential contributors to human livelihoods underscores the urgency of collective efforts to protect and preserve these underwater marvels. Organisations like the Coral Restoration Foundation focus on restoring and preserving coral reefs through active propagation and transplantation of corals, enhancing reef health. Delivering its latest installment of its revered Fragments series, Purified Records delivers Fragments XXII. Opening the compilation with Georgian producer Whiteout’s enchanting track ‘Echoes’, this cut ebbs and flows with intricate percussion and gentle melodies. Flowing into Danish artist Kiholm’s ‘Fighting for Something’ Ft. Ivy Marie, this creation achieves sonic bliss with soothing vocals across a delicate melodic house arrangement. Completing the series, Australian talent Juno Stone delivers ‘Alpine Ascent’. Rising into a lofty dimension, this carefully crafted piece reflects its title, reaching great heights with touching piano melodies and gradual synth work. 

The Fragments XXII displays an incredible shot of a Netrostoma jellyfish, captured by Daniel Nicholson. The Netrostoma jellyfish, also known as the crown jellyfish, is easily recognizable by its dome-shaped bell and delicate, trailing tentacles. They have a unique, crown-like structure on top of its bell, giving it a regal appearance. Additionally, some species of Netrostoma are bioluminescent, creating a mesmerizing light show underwater. Although not currently assessed for a specific conservation status by the IUCN, jellyfish populations face threats from climate change, pollution, and overfishing, which disrupt their natural habitats. Protecting marine environments is essential to maintaining the balance of ecosystems that support species like the Netrostoma jellyfish.

The first in an annual series of exciting compilations, this is a landmark release for the label who recruits leading artists Matt Fax and Dezza for two thrilling mixes that feature 35 exclusive tracks showcasing the most exciting acts in Progressive, Deep and Melodic House.

On Colorscapes Volume One, Matt Fax and Dezza bring together established Colorize names like PRAANA, Andre Sobota, Anden, Sound Quelle, Boxer, Hexlogic and Milkwish with exciting label newcomers like Pete K, Murtagh, Rylan Taggart, farfetch'd, Andromedha and Tripswitch. Matt Fax brings two electrifying remixes to the compilation with 2005 techno sensation 'Rej' by German act Âme and British DJ/Producer D.O.D.'s 2018 house hit 'Glow' getting reworked in remarkable fashion. The mixes build and swell organically with both DJs flexing their talents effortlessly, creating two exhilarating mixes that will take you on a voyage into the deep and progressive.

With Matt Fax and Dezza reaching new heights as artists and becoming concrete names in the world of Progressive House, this compilation comes at an exciting time for Colorize. Since his first release on the label in 2013, Matt Fax has seen immense growth as a producer through releasing impressive, genre-expanding singles and his debut artist album Contrast in 2017, and as a DJ having played a run of shows from Europe to Asia in 2019 as well as the Progressive Stage at Electronic Family in the Netherlands. Canadian DJ/Producer Dezza has also had a whirlwind of a year, releasing his debut artist album Cosmos, a tour of Australia, ASOT900 and then playing at the Budlight Dreams festival in Toronto in June. The two artists also headlined a sold-out show at London's Oval Space in July for the first Colorize event.

Colorscapes Volume One will be supported by a launch party at London's renowned venue Egg on the 22nd of September which will see Matt Fax and Dezza headline with support from Amy Wiles, Boxer, Sound Quelle and Steve Brian pres. Cabriolet Paris. An official label event will also be held in October during Amsterdam Dance Event, followed by a North American co-headline tour from Matt Fax and Dezza that will feature other prominent Colorize artists.
