SULEIMAN RECORDS is a Montreal boutique digital label founded by DJ/producer Darem Aissa. The name of the imprint pays homage to Syrian poet Suleiman Al-Aissa, one of the most prominent contemporary Arab poets.

The intent of SULEIMAN RECORDS and its vinyl-only sub-label AISSA RECORDS is to promote and produce positive, quality, underground electronic music. Taking influences from House, Techno and the many amalgamations in between, involving a diverse array of talented artists worldwide.

The original ‘Bless This Acid House’ album was released in May 2023 and was overflowing with extraordinary collaborations with original house music icons such as Marshall Jefferson, Robert Owens, Irvine Welsh and the late Sleazy D. Made with a variety of music-making analogue hardware machines, it was designed to transport you back to a time when house music was fresh, raw and underground.

A year on, this new release ‘Bless This Acid House Remixed’ does exactly what it says on the tin. Thirteen on-point, contemporary remixes of the original album tracks reworked by some of the most respected names in electronic music including Bushwacka, ITHURTZ, Jonny Aux, Black Octopus, Jon Carter, Serge Santiago, Redraft Memories & Chip-E, Transparent Sound and more. 

First out of the blocks, legendary acid house original Bushwacka takes the languid ‘Wish’ with Robert Owens and injects it with wiggly acid nitroglycerine. This dynamite cut is followed by Quinn from Paranoid London stepping up in his Jonny Aux guise for a punchy, squiggly, breakbeat-fuelled overhaul of ‘Take You There’ featuring the late Sleezy D. Jack Said What mainstay Serge Santiago takes ‘This Is Acid’ in an almost Italo direction; Transparent Sound morphs ‘Go Bang’ into a dark electro beast with a killer bassline undertow; and ITHURTZ twists timeless classic ‘One Day’ into a skippy, rubberised tech-house missive. 

Further, Jon Carter twists ‘Acid House Guys’ featuring Irvine Welsh through a glitchy techno mangle, while jackin’ house Chicago original Chip-E, alongside his mate Redraft Memories, obtain the parts to ‘Jack Said What’ — the track that gave rise to the label’s name — and take it further into the outer space technosphere. And there’s plenty more goodness in addition to these top-notch remixes, too. Shot through with an acid house sensibility, there’s sure to be a remix for a wide range of people here with any sort of interest in the culture.

Steve Mac is the artist behind the ‘Bless This Acid House’ album. A UK house music heavy-hitter, he has been a pillar of the international house community virtually from the beginning. The DJ/producer is also the label boss of Jack Said What Records in partnership with infamous Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh. With over 25 years’ experience, Steve is respected and revered for his analogue production style. Mac has also released tracks for labels such as Nervous, MoS, Cr2, Toolroom, Saved, Underwater and Ovum, and produced a number of artist albums for other people as well.

French techno legend Laurent Garnier is among the second batch of those adapting Input-Output to their own artistic vision, selecting the song "Air Castle" as his target. The Legion of Honor awardee takes things into a darker realm with his rendition, maintaining some of the original's more celestial synth elements, yet muddling them down into a scintillating mixture of muted synthesizers and deep, throbbing kicks that positively hypnotize the listener.

First, the future: A place totally accessible with ‘Substance’ as it surges triumphantly into the unknown with a continuous cycle of new elements layering up over the laid back groove yet-relentless modulating pattern. Suddenly Gregor’s signature pads hit home and the future has landed.
For a taste of the past, check ‘Inhale’: A bass-heavy electro breakbeat that nods back to Gregor’s rich electroid history as Sniper Mode who released a body of work on Elektrolux, Mikrolux and Electrix during the early 2000s. Slinky-yet-sci-fi, spaced yet dense, this one will have you creeping right back to the source.
Back to the present: Dokser’s Atoll build on the momentum he has developed on Inctacto with a breath-taking alternate take on ‘Inhale’. Pounding into tomorrow with raw drive and determined peak time darkness, it’s devilishly direct… Just as all GTO releases have been so far. Don’t sleep.

Swedish DJ/Producer Christian Nielsen debuts on Maceo Plex's Ellum imprint with the ‘Love Struck’ EP this May.

The four track EP continues a strong start to 2020 with releases from Raxon and Avision and, true to the label’s form, is all about weighty, characterful cuts from Nielsen, an artist who has previously chalked up releases for the likes of Kompakt, Of Unsound Mind and Play it Down.

The titular opener of ‘Love Struck’ is a swaggering, low slung affair with a growling bassline underpinning a pitch shifted vocal refrain and piercing rave stabs - a mutant beast which fuses techno, Garage and rave aesthetics in anthemic style. The skeletal rhythms and gritty acid flair of ‘For Myself’ follow in a track that, through some nifty builds, manages to pull off a big room energy as much as it does a basement vibe. ’Switch’ is next up and, with a rock solid groove, vocal sample and subaquatic tones, displays just how well Nielsen can create a monster with few elements. The heaviest track, ‘Pulse’, rounds off ‘Love Struck’ with a huge, padding kick drum and resonant percussive lead doing the heavy lifting while counterpointed by judiciously employed warm, cossetting jazz flute licks
