One year ago, the team formed by Vidall and Dactilar unleashed a John Lee Hooker cover/bootleg upon the world called “Nobody Knows.” The idea of dance music with a message is not paid much heed on the scene today but this concept has been the driving force behind their debut EP.

The title track, “The Device,” is a sophisticated slow dub house track containing a Herbie Hancock interview where we hear him respond to the question, how would you explain what a piano is to an alien? The next track, “Indeed” is a refreshing, powerful vocal house track that will force you out of your seat, and the insightful voice of Marvin Gaye grabs you and never lets go, as he speaks about show business over funk beats that crescendo into sonic emotion in “Part Of Me.”

This release also features remixes by artists/friends who share the same exigence for their life’s passion: music. It’s no easy feat to have two heavyweights like Martin Buttrich and Guti on the same wax, but AR pulled it off. The “maestro” Martin supplies with “Indeed Remix” a groovy dancefloor hit with elegant vibes, while Guti delivers two remixes of “The Device”–a profound trip reminiscent of the hypnotic african rhythms, and a delightfully ambient tune to perfectly close out one of the most exciting EPs of the year.”

With their current output and as regular guests in some of the finest clubs throughout Austria (e.g. renowned Volksgarten in Vienna) and the Czech Republic it will only be a matter of time until the typical Holter & Mogyoro vibe will conquer other parts of European club land!

After Dino's recent 'It's Saturday' single on Ellum he's back with another killer. The original is a epic slice of hypnotic heavy techno infused house featuring Dino on vocals. Shall Ocin turns in a great bleepy, bubbling techno take on the original, while on the flip Gardens Of God deliver a heavy bell-infused techno interpretation, and finally the Rebolledo remix is a deep electronic affair for those affair perfect for those darker corners of the club!

This June sees Tenampa Recordings present ‘Vendor’ EP from Dutch producer Mike Ravelli featuring a remix by Robert Babicz.

Established in Mexico in 2011, Tenampa have hosted the likes of Amine Edge, Djuma Soundsystem, and James Teej. The latest addition to the imprint is DJ/producer Mike Ravelli who was a component in the Amsterdam based GZG collective in the early noughties. Today his energetic electronic music soundtracks venues such as Katerholzig in Berlin, Egg in London, Barraca in Valencia and Lantern in Beijing and with previous releases on Sincopat, Comport, SoHoBeats and UNT Records he’s garnered support from the likes of Karotte, Edu Imbernon and Dubfire.

‘Vendor’ is the first track on the EP, it’s pounding bassline creeps in over a dusty off beat drum track and is peppered with bluesy electric guitar ad libs. Second up is the Robert Babicz remix, where atmospherics swirl above and the bassline is reinforced by a relentless four-four beat beneath. The final track Taura rounds up the release with the kind of rhythmic bass and arpeggios found in acid house accompanied by pulsing kick drums and crunchy claps.

Trend setting Canadian label My Favorite Robot is all ready to offer up some scorching summer sounds in the form of their tidy three track sampler EP. It features three hot artists and a trio of cuts that fit in perfectly with their singular MO. 

Swiss outfit Animal Trainer, of labels like Hive Audio and Still Vor Talent and others, go first. Their excellent ‘Aeron’ track is their first ever on this label and is a walloping great house cut with huge rubber kicks, spin tingling melodies and the sort of oversized bassline that will thoroughly destroy dance floors this summer. It is a patient, cosmic tinged track with a subtle sense of tension and release that really sweeps you up. 

Next up is Italian producer and DJ, Slok, who has been churning out beats for almost twenty years. In that time he has amassed credits on plenty of top labels including One Records, Circle Music and of course MFRR and has previously enlisted the MFR production outfit to provide vocals on his music. Here we find him in a doleful deep house mood with sombre chords laid over slick beats on ‘Dreamachine’. It is a spaced out and hypnotic track that will allow for lots of introspective moments. 

Finally, Valencia talent Darlyn Vlys is a prolific producer who has been active for five years but has already released more than ten EPs on all sorts of labels like Avotre, Terminal M and Suara. His ‘Butterfly’ track is eerie and haunted, with wide open spaces sucking you in. Thin pads, starry melodies and groaning bass all make for epic listening as you are trapped in the middle of it all and this one is perfect for dead of the night moments of pure emotion. 

This summer sampler offers up a hat trick of class club hits that remind us just why My Favorite Robot is one of the most talked about labels of the day.

Berlin act GHEIST have made a huge impression since releasing their debut record on Exploited in 2016. Now with regular appearances at Watergate and various summer festival gigs under their belts, three releases on Exploited and a couple with Sasha’s Last Night On Earth as well as a collaboration with HOSH ('The Watergate Affairs'), they are poised as one of the most promising acts of the current wave. This mesmerising new three-track EP only serves to strengthen their claim. 

'Axelot' begins by way of thuddy kicks knocking against the slightest of bleeps and gently techy percussion, with a slow-rising, muffled synth arpeggio teasing its way into life as the claps join in. Over the course of nine hypnotic minutes, we ebb and flow with the tracks subtle intricacies, a dramatic mood gently building. A mind-bending arp blurs the focus in the breakdown before we charge headlong back into the throbbing depths of the track.

'Kolibri' builds in similarly unhurried fashion, with bolder melodic focus that yields graceful strings, emotive chord patterns and some sublime delayed plucked refrains that take the essence of trancey emotion and boil it down to a sophisticated reduction. Just as the swells threaten to take the track into a frenzied crescendo, things are pulled back to keep the tension intact. Classy stuff. 

'Time' completes this sublime package by way of swirling chimes, throbbing monotone bass and analog bleeps, building up a heady wall of sound before a trademark GHEIST vocal lifts the track into unchartered territory. The sombre tone recalls Depeche Mode, and the idea to use the vocal in the breakdown alone only gives it more impact. It’s also a reminder that this trio bring an element of live electronica and instrumentation to their studio sessions.
