I was originally asked to create some background music for a forest-themed game back during the 2013 WTF Game Jam. The original track was never used, but I didn't want to leave it. Instead, I ended up re-working the track into something that sounds like pop-punk turned chiptunes.

When I'm feeling down, one of my favourite things to do is to create music.

There is something so incredible haunting about this piece. Originally composed by Jeremy Soule when he was 20 years old, I think this is the piece that speaks the most volume about the journey through Secret of Evermore - adventure in a foreign land, underestimated dangers everywhere, and new friends to help see you through it all.

For me, this song represents sadness and hope.

I wanted to create a slow, almost powerful stomping beat with this one. Like a large shambling behemoth that was a living zelda dungeon. My aim was to match the atmosphere of the original piece chiptune itself, and ratchet the intensity way, way up. I hope you enjoy. Made in Ableton 9.
