One Way Trip To Malorca

Fixing A Hole

It makes sense to kick off this TRACK PREMIERE with a quick [re-]introduction to Malcolm Pardon, who, although appeared on these pages as a solo artist with his debut album Hello Death (The New Black, 2021), may be more familiar to you as one half of Roll The Dice, along with Peder Mannerfelt. Unlike the Swedish duo's gorgeous sonic onslaught that captivated these pages (see In Dust and Until Silence from over a decade ago), Pardon's solo musings are more in the vein of deconstructed melancholia, with the solo piano progressions held up by cinematic atmospheres and themes. "Like the romantic notion of the orchestra on board the Titanic playing their repertoire as the ship went down, on The Abyss, he looks past the bleak or macabre to observe death as a multi-layered, lifelong acquaintance." On "Side Effects", we are faced with a pseudo-neutral message of a neo-classical nature, at times evoking echoes of Radiohead, at others creating a false sense of optimism, with a darker undertone lurking just beneath the veil. This becomes more evident as you progress through the album, followed by "The End", landing upon "Enter the Void" (you can check out an unsettling video by the Swedish director Oskar Wrangö here - be warned that it includes images that some viewers may find distressing), and finally concluding with the "Aftermath". The music on The Abyss is celebrating our demise, and just like the distressing notion of your own inevitable passing, it is disquieting, beautiful and final. For now, enjoy the "Side Effects".

b0t23 + inoperative system - Reticle Remixes Pt. 1
The original collaboration was between producer inoperative system (Diego Ruiz) from Málaga, Spain and b0t23 from Portland, Oregon (Beau Crouch). Now these sounds have been transmitted many more miles and morphed into new creations.  
When we sent out a request for some of our favorite artists to remix tracks from b0t23 + inoperative system - Reticle EP, we did not know what to expect.  What we got were some great submissions and we are happy to finally share them.  
For this 4 track release, we start with Senmove, another producer from inoperative system’s home of Spain, who shares a composition that is reminiscent of glitchy chopped up trip hop bedroom research, merck/schematic. Then we have one of our favorite artists, Roel Funcken, with an amazingly expansive remix of “Simplo” that features great basslines, a halftime feel, and shifting beats.   Adrien D’Elzius brings us a polished up remix of the track Target, locking into a dark groove with acid lines, deep bass, and tight percussion.   Hexalyne brings a distorted electro glitch track that progresses through various rhythms all vying for attention, coming together with ambient washes and introspective textures.

400. Sleepy Sunday Podcast (Elm Records)

Dear friends,

It has been a long time since we last released a compilation – our previous one was back in 2020. For the 100th release of our label, we felt it was the perfect occasion to celebrate in great company! We invited many musicians who have collaborated with Dronarivm in the past to create joint tracks with an artist of their choice. The result is 24 uniquely diverse tracks that showcase the vast musical spectrum of the genre we generally call "Ambient."

We are proud to present Illuminations III, a compilation created as a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who has supported us over the years. This includes musicians, listeners, visual artists, photographers, designers, podcasters, reviewers, and everyone who has helped us grow and move forward.

Illuminations III features over two hours of outstanding music from leading ambient producers, and just like any true gift, it's completely free to download. Of course, if you wish, you can contribute any amount you find appropriate. All proceeds will go toward supporting and further developing our projects.

For those who prefer a physical format, the album is also available as a print-on-demand double CDr.

Weightless is an EP of intricate original piano compositions by UK artist Alex Kozobolis. With a series of solo releases over the past few years and collaborations with artists such as Lee Chapman, Harry Edwards, and Anna Rose Carter, Weightless represents Alex's unique approach to composition and melody.

His touch on the piano is light and fluid; moving between dense sustained runs, which evaporate as soon as they are heard, to spaciously plotted notes. Weightless is the sound of weight itself lifting, of the earthly effect of gravity removed and allowing the listener to be suspended within mid-air, uninterrupted by pressures and restrains of the physical world. Coursing with energy, and running to take flight.

Each of the four tracks have been remixed by Siavash Amini, Tom Adams, Trnspt and Hedia, with very different, but cohesive results, expanding the tone of the EP into new areas.

Weightless will be available on limited clear vinyl, digipack CD and digital editions.
