'Beat & Path is proud to announce the first LP by Out of Sorts, A Figure of Speech. This five-track mini-album is a lockdown baby that fed on the quietness of a country on pause only to result in a labyrinthine of sonic life. Here, the techno and house duo's creation is a concoction of simmering and deeply rolling sounds resulting in a downright blazing dancefloor blitz.
 
For Beat & Path, A Figure of Speech summons the first of what will be a series of electronic mini albums that aim to capture a slice of where each label artist is creatively. 
 
"Lickity Split" delivers depth in the first instance and brings the Out Of Sorts sound right to the forefront for its entirety. Here, the contrast between the grit and grime of the gravely bottom ends are balanced with intricate, precision programming in the tops (also ushered in with the softest of strings). Combined with the haunting vocal, this is an intoxicating seven minutes that invites you to feel something from this maze of electronic complexity.'

Premiere: Out Of Sorts - Lickity Split [Beat & Path]

A seasoned performer and talented producer, Michael Ritter finds himself at the forefront of modern underground dance from his Berlin home. Much in-demand with DJ appearances across Europe, in Amsterdam, Ibiza, Hamburg and his Berlin hometown, a production career in tandem has seen Michael feature on the likes of Obenmusik, YOMO Records and Aesthetika. Meanwhile, his Grey Bar Hotel imprint also serves as a vehicle for his own production and remix material.

Reworking “To Follow”, the Michael Ritter remix provides a deeper, up-tempo vibe that takes the central themes of the original and extends them into a stunning new interpretation. Making elegant use of Ghenwa Nemnom’s Qanun playing, Michael creates a sub-bassline and ticking percussive groove framework that adds depth and dancefloor credentials to the organic instrumentation. Glorious piano chord progressions add a melancholic air that ripples through the 8-minute piece exuding class and craftsmanship. 

A new label to enter the underground house milieu, Pillbox is a label based in Berlin and Mexico City.

Sabo’s record label, Sol Selectas drops an upbeat Afro house EP by RUSKAR which features organic sounds and vibrant percussion.

RUSKAR is a young talent from São Paulo in Brazil and his music blends the traditional music of South America with contemporary electronic sounds to create music that transcends generations.

A passionate young producer and DJ, RUSKAR is a raw and exciting talent who is still early in his career, but already, he has caught the attention of Sabo who has welcomed him as the newest member of the Sol Selectas family.

Prior to this release, RUSKAR has featured on other labels such as Nature Recordings, iM Electronica and Brazuka Music. This is only his fourth official release, but he has already been making waves within the Afro house community, and is well known within São Paulo’s thriving underground music scene.

“Amazônia” is the first of the two tracks on the release, and it’s got a funk-fuelled bassline layered with upbeat percussion and spiralling synth pads. Its tropical bird sound and other ambient effects transport the listener to warmer climates and give the track a trippy vibe.

“Resistência” is a psychedelic track with springy sounds and the modulating tones of rippling synths fuse with a live conga loop. Pitched vocals and dramatic bass chords add to the free-flowing groove of the percussion that fills the track with radiant energy.
