Elo Zar is a South Africa singer/songwriter in the electronic pop genre who discovered her musical journey in her teens. Being a Soweto youngster wasn't an easy life but music sustained her through the challenges. Elo is inspired by experimental compositions from artists and bands like The Brother Moves On, Bjork, FKA Twigs, Kimbra, Nonku Phiri, Petit Noir, Solange Knowles, Tresor, David Bowie, Wednesday Campanella, Submotion Orchestra. To her music is a world to live in and it has with many adventures to only be narrow minded in approach.

The Love Song

Elo Zar is a South Africa singer/songwriter in the electronic pop genre who discovered her musical journey in her teens. Being a Soweto youngster wasn't an easy life but music sustained her through the challenging and sometimes lonesome times in her up bringing. She grew up loving performing in the choir as she found her soul resting deeper into harmonies created with voices. Although Elo knew her passion was in the arts and in music she was pushed into academics and was rewarded an Hons in Business for Wales University. She soon leaned into her yearning for music while working in music publishing with Universal Music Publishing Africa. After a while she then decided to study music and was introduced to more genres than she was exposed to. Elo drew so much from Jazz, Rock n Roll, Reggae etc. most importantly she was inspired into experimental compositions by artists and bands like The Brother Moves On, Bjork, FKA Twigs, Kimbra, Nonku Phiri, Petit Noir, Solange Knowles, Tresor, David Bowie, Wednesday Campanella, Submotion Orchestra and may more and from there on, music became a world to live in and roam around with too many adventures to only have a narrow minded approach.

In 2016 she released her experimental EP Elogram with the single Make You Stay being featured in the South African movie, Mrs Right Guy and the first season of It’s Complicated (a South African Series). She went on to sell out shows where she was the headliner and accompanied by Bongeziwe Mabandla and Something Soweto.

2018 she stepped back into studio to create a new project call Listen with the single “The Love Song” She performed at the Anglo Africa Fashion Awards and the SA fashion week for the Wits Foundation initiative sharing the stage with Lira, Unati. 
2019 Elo is back in studio co-producing a new project with her band members she named The Bishops.
