Brian Leeds has spent a decade exploring electronic music’s murky corners under a range of aliases – from blown-out house and ambient to deep-fried trap and drill. As Loidis, he released one of 2024’s best albums, the minimalist dub techno LP ‘One Day’. 

Now, returning to his primary @huerco_s handle, the Philadelphia-based shapeshifter records a two-hour mix of rhythmic psychedelia for DJ Mag's Recognise series, and speaks to Michael McKinney about his family ties to the Jersey Devil, growing up in bands, his West Mineral Ltd. label, and learning to slow down.

Devourer of sounds, restless DJ and a unique voice in the scene of our country, Gela's musical journey began in Murcia in 2003. She hasn't stop traveling since then, constantly getting soaked in the musical influences of the different parts of the world she visited. No wonder why you can find infinite diverse influences as disco, cosmic funk, Brazilian music, acid house, dark 80s new wave, low bpm techno, electro, ambient and 90s breaks cohabiting in her sets.

Gela has expanded her range to numerous corners, stepping into the booths of Razzmatazz in Barcelona, Corsica Studios in London, Wilden Renate and About Blank in Berlin, Café Berlin in Madrid and Red Light Radio in Amsterdam, getting royalty slots in Sónar or opening for Laurent Garnier at Brunch-In The Park in Madrid. 

This set is fantastic, made in the golden booth of Dabadaba in Donosti (North of Spain). Two hours of a blend of house, cosmic disco and new wave that will get your feet itchy!
