Lonesome Cello Harmonics

Suffuse, Resound was written out of fascination for the overtone series of bells, and relies heavily on the symbiosis of the two musicians. I decided to use the spectral analysis of the Wren Bell, which is in the Wren Building, (the oldest college building still in use in America), at my college, William and Mary. The piece starts with bringing the listener into the resounding bell, then shifts focus to the natural harmonics of strings, finally ending with the merging of the two sound worlds.

This AAA video game is currently in development and will see it's release in 2013. More than 80 minutes of music were written for this epic first person shooter. The story is set in the future impacting on the style of the music which ranges from big orchestral arrangements to heavy electronica. The orchestra was recorded and mixed in one of London's top studio. More details and pictures will follow soon.

The above clip was an early demo for the game. The cello was recorded live and then treated with several FX to blend it in with the electronic soundscape.
