Solid Grooves unveil their 2022 'Ibiza Sampler' as Michael Bibi and PAWSA invite seven of the label's residents and regulars for a huge summer offering.

2022 is shaping up to be a year to remember for Solid Grooves as they celebrate ten years in style with a host of stand-out shows, including OFF Sonar and Kappa Futur, alongside recent appearances at Space Miami, Fabric and Printworks.

However, the crown jewel in the programming undeniably comes via their biggest Ibiza season to date. With a move to renowned institution DC10 backed by lineups stacked full of talent, the collective only adds to things on the label front as they reveal their latest summer compilation. Opening the season in style, the nine-track 'Ibiza Sampler' welcomes the arrival of a stacked V/A with fresh heat from close friends and ever-impressing regulars.

In usual fashion, co-founders Michael Bibi and PAWSA contribute a pair of heavily-requested signature cuts, alongside peak-time and after-hours anthems from residents Dennis Cruz, Eddy M, Reelow, Ramin Rezaie and Bassel Darwish, plus label signees Classmatic and JUST2.

We are proud of having the italian minimal-tech star Yaya for the first release of 2023. Everybody knows his background on labels like Desolat, Kaluki or his own label Tamango but know it's time to his elrow music debut. 'Straight To The Point' is about a relentless groove, raw arrangement and funky bassline, perfect for the dancefloor. De la Swing made a remix focusing the attention in the percussive section, adding new elements and going deeper underground. Third track of the EP is 'Candyman', organic arpeggiated bassline, clean sounds and sexy groove. A fresh start for a new year!

Solid Grooves serve up a five-track sampler featuring label founders PAWSA and Michael Bibi alongside label favourites ONNO, Reelow and Dennis Cruz.

Launching in September last year, Solid Grooves Records has been on an upwards trajectory ever since. The London and Ibiza brand are now about to kick-start their weekly Ibiza event series every Thursday at Vista Club where their core artists will share the decks with special guests throughout the summer. In light of this the founders have curated five tracks from some of their core roster that’s illustrative of the Solid Grooves musical aesthetic.

First up, Dennis Cruz ‘Fever’ is a rumbling track boasting echoing percussion and a heady spoken word sample. Michael Bibi then drops a moody number teeming with syncopated rhythms and chopped vocals before ONNO unleashes a cavernous cut named ‘Body Shake’ that’s geared for the peaktime. Next, PAWSA ‘Luster’ is a bass fuelled roller that takes no prisoners until Reelow concludes the package with the intricate ‘Shaolin Slap’.

Making their debut on Resonance Records, Guille Placencia and George Privatti join forces to deliver a blistering two-track EP to Max Chapman and George Smeddles' imprint, as the label bosses themselves weigh in with a heavy-duty remix of the title track to complete the package.

Opening the EP, the title track does exactly what it says on the tin - a rolling bassline underpins intricate percussion alongside a vocal sample that is going to blow the doors off. It's a strong opening and by no means the only highlight of the release. The pair's second original track, 'The Superfreak' takes the energy to the next level with a cut that has peak time written all over it. Expect serious disco influences and a vibe that has been a staple part of dancefloors for three decades and still hits the spot - 'The Superfreak' is proof that the producers' extensive experience behind the decks has translated to the studio as this is a serious weapon designed to work the crowd.
 
A collaborative pairing that has seen them already hit the coveted #1 spot on Beatport this year, Guille and George are a force to be reckoned with and when asked about the release, said 'We are very excited about this release, Max and George have been releasing a lot of great music and Resonance Records has been a label we have loved for a long time. We believe the two records we have given them have big potential and hopefully they'll hit the spot when the EP drops next month'

On the remix front, long-time collaborators Max Chapman and George Smeddles have teamed up to give 'Dynamite' their own interpretation - punchy drums and a low-slung groove that just oozes energy, the pair make great use of the vocal sample without relying on it to carry the tune. With a tribal vibe that doesn't focus on obvious drops and hooks, the emphasis is on the quality production that keeps 'Dynamite' flying from start to finish.
Another stand-out release from Resonance Records which reinforces the quality A&R behind the imprint and is undoubtedly going to be getting a solid rinse on terraces all over this summer.

Hotly tipped Brit producer/DJ, Ben Sterling, returns to Eats Everything’s Edible imprint with a brace of funky belters for your ears!  Following up the epic ‘Dance Machine’ from earlier this year, Sterling continues to dispatch slick and modern dance floor tuneage for midnight ravers and sunrise dancers.

A coy acid line gurgles throughout ‘Danger’, but the track’s focus is firmly on the precision mechanical house beats and robotic vocal, its infectious swinging groove proving very infectious.  ‘Mind Control’ pursues a similar path, with Sterling again serving up a mischievous slice of wicked techy house business, flowing with funk and good vibes!

Ben Sterling has been casually dropping bombs for labels like Hot Creations, Repopulate Mars and Edible over the course of the last three years, and his production talents show no sign of letting up yet anytime soon.

Manchester-based producer Mason Maynard is welcomed to Hot Creations to present McLovin’, featuring two tracks of equal magnitude that display his vibrant talent. Mason’s debut release on the formidable label is set for release on 10th April.

On the flip, the spellbinding Remedy features a snaking sub-bass complemented perfectly with the powerful vocals of Ursula Rucker. “In its original form the song featured an old acapella from Ursula, but when we were put in touch with each other we knew we wanted to create something completely fresh.”

Mason Maynard has already built himself an exceptional reputation, with his groove led productions backed by some of biggest names in the business including Carl Cox, Jamie Jones, The Martinez Brothers, Green Velvet, Skream and Seth Troxler. His releases on Repopulate Mars, DFTD, Sola and Relief (where he has collaborated with Green Velvet) have been supported heavily on BBC radio. In 2019 he toured the world, with sets at EDC, Hideout, Creamfields and also across Ibiza during the summer. Praised homecoming gigs took place at Manchester’s Warehouse Project and in front of 15,000 in the Hangar at Parklife Festival. 2020 will see Mason go from strength to strength as he continues to tour the USA and announces his new FANTAZIA label. Working alongside USA electronic music heavyweights Insomniac, FANTAZIA is inspired by early acid and raving culture with a debut release dropping on 6th March.

The artist behind the brand new elrow music release is an italian electronic music legend, Deeperfect's owner, a producer whom has released on labels like Terminal M, Toolroom or Skint, a Dj whom has played in best clubs in the world. The one and only Stefano Noferini.

'Permission' is a piece of modern tech-house with a 303 bassline and a oldschool rap vocal sample. The perfect Dj tool that works either in big rooms and cool dancefloors. For the remix, the Solid Grooves usual suspect Bassel Darwish delivered a mint remix keeping the essence of the track but bringing the track into his own territory: fat and raw, hypnotic and elegant.
