Brighton-born producer El Train will take you into his dreamland with his new album And Then We Woke Up, available both on streaming platforms and in vinyl format on November 2, 2021.

Previously acclaimed by The Fader, Complex, Wonderland, Line of Best Fit, Notion and many more, the UK artist has brought to life the follow-up to Puzzles, his debut album self-released in June 2019. This 13-track cosy project features some of his current favourite artists such as Kallitechnis, Kaisha, Jaz Lund, Fliss or Paal Singh.

The album was born during the first lockdown and heavily inspired by everything that was going on in the world at the time. "When the lockdown hit, I kind of ramped up my work rate. The idea for this album began to take shape towards the end of 2020. I’d been working on so much new music with all these amazing people without ever meeting anybody in person (those pesky lockdowns!). The music industry itself completely ground to a halt for 18 months and it felt to me like we were all kind of hibernating. ‘And Then We Woke Up’ is meant to encapsulate the feeling of returning to some sort of normality after what feels like an extended period of hibernation" he continues.

While sleepwalking through the emotions, seasons and every curveball life threw at him during this pandemic, El Train dreamt of his eclectic Shangri-la. From oneiric jazzy interludes to the aery r&b from Lessons in Love, from the groovy Video Game to the UK-garage-inspired MAD... And Then We Woke Up and its electro soul explorations make for the perfect stargazing companion.

El Train returns with fresh new single ‘IKWYW’ ahead of his upcoming project dropping this Autumn.

The first official single from the new project and his first release of 2021, ‘IKWYW’ combines hard hitting drums and soulful production with beautiful airy vocals from Florida based singer @n_d_o. The track is also paired with the instrumental ‘With You’, the first of 5 double singles from the project.

“Both of these tracks came together just after I got my first hardware synth (the Korg opsix), it helped to freshen up my workflow and most of the synths on the tracks are sounds from that. Once I had the rough idea for ‘IKWYW’ I sent it over to NDO and she absolutely smashed it on the vocal!”

El Train enlists the talents of singer/songwriter NDO on the vocal’s. This was her take on the collaboration;

“IKWYW is a song about knowing what a guy really wants, however they try to disguise it or lie about their intentions, but also letting them know that it’s ok to be straight forward. I also talk about how I can be naive or gullible when dealing with someone I really like. People tend to ignore red flags when their desire to be with that person is really strong.”

UK producer El Train returns with catchy ‘HOLLA’ ahead of his upcoming project dropping this Autumn.

The second single from the new project, ‘HOLLA’ combines El Train’s signature laidback soulful production with bars from London rappers LIFE & Gilly Heller. The track is also paired with the instrumental ‘OPTIMISM’, a collaboration with Birmingham producer Paal Singh.

“‘HOLLA’ was an instrumental I started way back at the start of last year. I’d been wanting to work with LIFE for a while, I sent him a folder of ideas and this was the one that stuck. LIFE asked Gilly Heller to jump on and this is what we got! ‘OPTIMISM’ was a beat I started on Twitch earlier this year. I asked for people to send samples to work with, Paal sent this drum loop over and I built the track around it.”

Here's the final single 'Video Game' taken from my upcoming album which is dropping next month. The track features the amazing Jaz Lund on vocals.

I I actually made the instrumental a few years ago, but I hadn’t really found the right person to collaborate on the track with. I sent it over to Jaz earlier this year and the minute I heard the demo, I knew we were onto something. This final version isn’t too far away from that demo, we just had to tweak it to get to what you hear now!
