Elusive Records head honcho, Slavaki, claims back the label-reigns for the next instalment of signature Elusive quality material. The EP comes in shape of a 180g vinyl limited to 300 numbered copies and is moments away from becoming a collector’s item, not to mention that it is being made available well ahead of a digital release. Don’t sleep on it! 4 track offering is compiled of entirely new material that exhibits Slavaki’s constantly evolving sound and is bound to pleasantly surprise both the fans of his sold out debut LP and the new audience alike. The opening ‘In Circles’ is a pulsating experimental minimal groove that miraculously resolves into a lush sonorous landscape. ‘Sunday Rain’ takes the listeners on a wondrous aural trip-out while masterfully wrapping them around a solid, yet understated dub carcass. ‘Escalator’ picks up with contagious bass line which is guaranteed to make the dancefloors move.
The 12” version of the EP culminates in vinyl-only dub wonder ‘Herb’. The track is immediately danceable, heavily mulch-layered, politically poignant and benefits from the bottomless depth of vocals. I started playing with the idea of title Uncalculated Music, trying to highlight the movement towards more fluid, uncomputerized and unquantized feel in recorded music. The other meaning of uncalculated was somewhat as in expression "uncalculated decision", which was about music created with no plan in mind. I also wanted to commemorate the fact that most of the tracks on this album were written while living in Valencia, Spain, hence the title in Spanish! When I contacted the long time graphic artist collaborator to see if he wanted to listen to the album and come up with the cover artwork for it, he kindly agreed to participate. Soon after, he sent me a couple of ideas and I had an immediate connection with one of the drawings. I was quite pleased how the theme was fitting together and adding to the story.

Later, during the mixing stage of the album, I decided to explore DSD format (Direct Stream Digital) to capture the analogue mix-down, as opposed to using normal WAV PCM recording. While looking into the theory of DSD I realized how much the subject of 1 bit unquantized signal was actually related to the working title of the album. I found it quite cool how at the end everything has become relevant on many different levels. So here it is, my third album … the rest is history!

*The album was mixed in analogue and the mix-down was captured in pristine DSD format (Direct Stream Digital, 1-bit 5.6 MHz), also known as Super Audio. DSD uses 1 bit of information but at extremely high frequency compared to PCM modulation used in WAV or AIFF files. This sound is free from encoding, quantization error, dithering, noise shaping or other processing that normally occurs in digital audio. That is the biggest reason why a lot of people are convinced that music recorded in DSD sounds more natural. Of course, sonically it's a subtle change, compared to say, high resolution PCM of 24 bit / 192 kHz, but psycho acoustically, and partly due to the bandwidth being extended  into the area of recorded brain activity, it's a great change.
