Los Angeles producer Elusive returns to Dome of Doom with the new album Bonsai Tree, scheduled to release the 35-minute album June 14th. Following the type of sonic terrain found in recent albums Fusion Swing, Textures, Headspace, and the two-part EP series Dissonance/Consonance, Bonsai Tree is another walk into exploratory fusions between electronic, jazz, and neo-soul. The music is open and pulsing, ushered in with a state of refinement and flow that mirrors the title. Recordings took place during November and December of last year at Elusive's home studio in Venice, with features from LA-based musicians Ian Roller (saxophone) and Gabe Steiner (trumpet). Longtime collaborator, and also his brother, Josh Koslow (trumpet) contributes to the LP as well. Elusive performed all keyboard, synth, bass, and drum parts, sequencing successive live takes over a multitude of layers.

Bonsai Tree continues a stretch that finds the producer evolving towards new heights musically, training himself in music theory just as much as he is creatively changing his direction in sound. From new chord progressions, manic synth bass lines, odd time signatures, and various solo cadences, his work has slowly become one of a kind. "The biggest influence and inspiration on my music has been the process of collaborating with the musicians I’ve been working with lately," Elusive adds. "Seeing the focus it takes to get good at an instrument and the excitement to create and make music that people feel and recognize as quality music. Also, I've been doing a lot of reading on music theory and using that to create songs that have melody and a flowing arrangement. I’ve really looked at making music in a different way the past few years. I totally give credit to the musicians I’ve been working with."

With its easy flow and illuminated feel, Bonsai Tree is music shaped for consumption all over the world, created in a phase of his career where songwriting and conceptual abstraction are merging even closer. With over 20 years of experience releasing records and producing in both hip-hop and electronic music, Elusive has received praise from KCRW, BBC Radio 6, The FADER, L.A. Record, XLR8R, self-titled, The Wire, Music Is My Sanctuary, NestHQ, and many more. Bonsai Tree carries this momentum forward, providing another testament to his dedication towards craft and vision. Bonsai Tree will release with Dome of Doom on June 14th across cassette and digital formats.
