The fire at the center of the floor was more signal than warmth against the countryside chill. Sparks shot upward into the night as dancers circled around, bodies locked into the pulse spilling from the booth. Above Below Festival thrives on these elemental juxtapositions: a rural valley transformed into a site of intensity, a cocoon-like booth channeling waves of sound that felt larger than the space itself. With every kick drum, the edges of the night blurred, and for hours the crowd existed in a suspended orbit around light, heat, and rhythm.

It was here that Timesplitters, Jake and Pat, took hold. Their set drove forward on cavernous bass, but the force alone wasn’t what bound the floor; it was the shifting mid-range voices, synth lines and melodic sequences mutating like smoke from the fire, wrapping dancers in a narrative of tension and release. They approached the set less as selectors and more as authors, tracing the night with a balance of discipline and wildness. Despite their name, there was no split in time, only the sense of one continuous current, shared in firelight, smiles, and unbroken motion.

Born in Cape Town, currently living in Berlin - Maciek resides in the grey, nurturing the unformed. Hanging out in the blend, Maciek has made his way in the international music scene as a singer, songwriter and producer under the alias Atelier. His music has been supported by Dixon, Âme, &ME, Sven Väth, Mind Against, Trikk and has been featured in Grand Theft Auto. As a long time record collector; finding himself behind the decks, Maciek drifts between Deep/Dub/Minimal House with regular sidesteps into Breakbeat, Trip-Hop & Ambient. A listening experience paired with letting yourself go. A product of word of mouth, Maciek has played all environments. Notable shows have been Lighthouse Festival, Small Town Beat, Aeden Berlin, Cape Town Electronic Music Festival, GartN Berlin, Kauz Zurich and many more, including hosting his radio show on Refuge Worldwide. Sharing his digging finds is an extension of himself and his most comfortable form of communication.

#ELVTInTheMix025 features @syeylmusic (pronounced sea-el) who hails from New Delhi. His live electronic music project is known for his emotive, sample driven soundscapes, often blending ambient, leftfield electronica, and experimental club music into cinematic, otherworldly performances. Since debuting at Magnetic Fields Festival 2024, he has shared stages with the likes of Seb Wildblood, Tom VR, and David August. His fully live sets, built from samplers, drum machines, and evolving loops, unfold as immersive journeys where no two shows are ever the same. SYEYL’s music explores the “Space in Between,” the delicate tension between the organic and the synthetic, the past and the present, the known and the unknown.

For this edition of the mix, he crafts a two part sonic voyage, the first half drifts through chilled textures and unreleased cuts (some dropping this November via a London-based label 👀), while the second half steps into a clubbier pulse. Expect indie folk and jazz samples from the ’60s and ’70s woven into breaky, euphoric moments that sit between electronica, techno, and pure feeling, which are all held together by those unmistakable SYEYL synths.
