Significant Other unveils a new project: Pain Management. A new imprint presenting music and visual media across a variety of formats. The outlet launches with an original 4 track EP: When It Rains.

Christening the label with his first full length release since 2021, the producer steps out from behind the curtain with a batch of tracks guaranteed to soothe psychic woes and challenge sound systems alike.

True to the name of the label, this debut release delivers a healthy dose of leftfield club weight. Tough and tender in equal measure, it’s a record that explores in-between zones. A fever dream of narrative experiments at the outer edges of club music, packing enough punch to shake a dancefloor, but enough delicacy to soundtrack the ride home. The final product is a meeting of outsider sonics and sleazy dance tropes, body music for restless minds.

This track is dedicated to my father who passed away too early and left us orphaned of, among many other things, his immense knowledge of mountains, lakes, forests and the species that inhabit them. A knowledge guided by dedication and love that he was always happy to share, with kindness and depth. 

You will be hugely missed.

Here is the poem that I wrote which inspired this music:
Hum, just above, a darkness of earth

River runs nearby,
gurgles and murmurs, 

sounds out 
under submerged tree trunks, 
pale and immersed in the flow.
Blackness of deep night 
has 
already settled here.

Still,
fine, serrated leaves whisper with the wind,
gently hover over darkness.

Stems from last year
still 
rise up,
Still,
connected to dark earth.

Purple blossoms, in rows of hearts
Still,
hum quietly 
to each other,

@karisa-correa - 'cold metal, heavy mind' is part of Gravity Pleasure's inaugural release, Water Bodies: a rippling compilation of FLINTA* artists and collaborators that invites listeners into an aqueous paraworld.

Across 21 tracks, Water Bodies spans a post-genre miasma of ethereal mermaid music, cathartic flows, and glistening sibilants ~ each one an exquisite message-in-a-bottle of deep diving emotionality. Pulling from a wide-range of musical perspectives ~ field recording, lovesick ballads, shimmering downtempo, post-party comedown, and percolating ambient ~ the compilation contains multitudes yet maintains deep sentimental coherence. Like a wave crashing in slow motion, it sonifies possible ways of being, insisting on the porous, the interdependent, and the deep and unruly. Water Bodies reminds us that home is a body made of water, to which we all belong.
