Relearning to Breath

Kodomo’s full-length debut release – titled Still Life – will be released on October 7th, 2008 on New York’s 5 Points Records.  This release features 9 original tracks and a bonus track, “Spira Mirablis” - currently featured in the MTV/Harmonix iPod video game “Phase.” The concept for the record was born of a series of photographs, each one serving as a springboard for the music.  The album explores how images of environments, landscapes, people, and objects are used to evoke musical ideas; each image giving rise to various rhythms, chords, and sonic textures.  The photos were taken in Italy, China, Japan, Switzerland, & around the US.  The CD release has a deluxe package that includes an expanded booklet featuring all 9 photos.

Eucalyptus is a collaboration with Asheville based artist named @marley-carroll. 

This song is special because it's one of the last pieces of music I finished while living in Asheville, NC before moving to Los Angeles. 

The name Eucalyptus is inspired by the fresh smell of the essential oil. The feeling of that smell matches perfectly with early Spring greens in Asheville and this song is a perfect compliment to the two. Fresh electronic vibes mixed with DJ scratching and electric guitar.

'Tangerine Sour' is taken from 'A Thousand Clouds' by Emancipator & 9 Theory. 

A Thousand Clouds is the follow-up EP to Emancipator and 9 Theory's highly-acclaimed 2019 collaboration, Cheeba Gold. After the success of their first EP, and how fun and organic the making of it was, the two west-coast electronic music producers set out to see if they could recreate that magic once again with 4 new songs. The two spent one week together at Emancipator's studio in the Oregon woods and went from a completely blankslate to this finished new EP in just 6 days. To keep in the spirit of Cheeba Gold this new EP, A Thousand Clouds, was also intended to be only 4 songs, be made quickly without overthinking it too much, and the track order of the songs is again the same order in which they were made. The end result is another unique, magical blend of electronic, downtempo, indie, and hip-hop that lives somewhere really special outside of what either artist would ever make on their own.
