the track is based on a repeating and ultimatly self inspiring riff/pattern, the germ of that notion makes me think of fractals. because of the songs inheirent and purposeful imperfections i think fractals in nature rather than larger than the universe sized mandelbrot or julia set type you may have seen. the first natural fractals that lightbulb in my head are both snow flakes and the repetative patterns tree ferns - hence a christmas tree. ive also tried to shape the structure of the piece to the shape of a crimbo tree. also, much like the local shopping centre, i thought i'd get my tree up well in time for the christmas holiday frenzy (that and i love me some christmas).
