Maika: half Polish, half Dutch.
A soul and funk singer, who built a bridge between her Eastern European roots and contemporary pop music with a healthy attitude.
Maika grew up in The Netherlands, and spent her holidays in Silezia, in the southern part of Poland. During her childhood, she was affected by music, and developed a passion for rock 'n roll at a very young age.
When Maika was 12 years old, she got hit by the inspiration of Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, when visiting a concert. After that concert, Maika decided to go full throttle into music. When she turned 17, Maika moved to Amsterdam to study at the conservatory. One of her fellow students were Eva Simons and Kensington's drummer Niles Vandenberg. For the past years, Maika was a front-vocalist at the P-funk collective 'Pure Soul Power', featuring Iwan Ten and Pieter Both.
Her appearance on stage was never unnoticed, because of her glamorous outfits and her deep voice. So now, Maika decided to go solo!
Because of her Polish roots and her no-nonsense mindset, Maika will be presenting her personal EP 'Forever'. Together with producer/bass player Emanuel Platino (Waylon/Postman), they wrote these songs,
with the exception of 'Best Thing', which is written by Arjo Klingens
(head executive manager of the band 'De Staat').
