Empire of the Sun's "Walking On A Dream" is one of the songs of our generation. It may not have been the band's biggest hit on release, but it has grown into an absolute monster since then. Kevin McKay's 2019 edit of it has been a dancefloor favourite since he first tested it out at his I Feel Love parties at Mick's Garage (now Colour Factory) in Hackney. Over the last five years, the DJ support for this killer rework has grown exponentially. This support culminated in a final play of the Music On season 2023 by Marco Carola. Clips of this have been shared on social media millions of times. With this amount of groundswell, we asked Simon Ellis back after his stellar performance on "Somebody That I Used To Know", and Kevin has rebuilt a backing with 2024 in mind (while still keeping the magic of that original edit). So now, for all the DJs asking, here is Kevin's version of "Walking On A Dream".

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Defected Records presents a series of extra special collaborative releases Together, integrating talent from the label’s storied past and the stars of its future as Joseph Capriati delivers two remixes of Sandy Rivera’s ‘I Can’t Stop’. Originally released via Defected in 2002, ‘I Can’t Stop’ showcased Defected House Master Sandy Rivera’s ear for jackin’ minimal groove, with old school stuttered vocals and keys making for a club record that still receives play to this day. Over two decades later, the globally revered Italian champion Joseph Capriati steps up on remix duties, following another knockout summer in Ibiza with sets for Circoloco at DC-10, Jamie Jones’ Paradise closing party, and his headline show Metamorfosi at Amnesia to name a small few. Capriati delivers two remixes of ‘I Can’t Stop’, the first showcasing the revered producer’s signature deep house sound that fills dancefloors globally, with the second paying homage to the groovin’ sound of Sandy Rivera’s OG, for the heads in the know.

Returning on production duties are the legendary Deepshakerz who’s “Midnight Ritual” was one of our favourite (and supported) Afro releases of 2024. Add to that Kevin McKay’s synths and strings and we have a sure-fire Afro House cut that should work for DJs across the dancing spectrum. From the main floor to the beach bar, this one will deliver.

Love Attacks founder Alan Dixon joins UK house duo mOat and multi-instrumentalist Tom Diesel on DFTD with ‘Underground’. Coming in hot from his rework of Infinity Ink’s ‘Infinity’ on sister-label Glitterbox, nightlife authority Alan Dixon now collaborates with rising artists of the electronic scene. The UK pairing of producers Tom Staar and Chris Spero, mOat have found a home on Armin Van Buuren’s imprint Armada, recently releasing ‘Heat’ with Tensnake. Previously collaborating with Alan Dixon for ‘Infados’ on Love Attacks Records, mOat have also worked with the hybrid producer and live performer Tom Diesel for ‘Pizza Cat’. Now uniting as one on DFTD, the four electronic artists present ‘Underground’; pulsating synth patterns underpin bright piano accents, with Afro electronic-inspired percussion decorating this deep and brooding club track.

Following on from their Record Store Day ‘Looped EP’ release, which featured remixes by Dauwd and Lubomyr Melnyk, Kiasmos – made up of Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen – return with three new tracks and a remix by Tale Of Us.

Recorded in various locations including Reykjavík and Berlin, the EP opens with ‘Drawn’, a four-minute percussion fuelled track with gentle piano motifs. ‘Gaunt’ features the addition of ambient synths and a drum loop, underpinned by slow-moving chords. Title track ‘Swept’ which the duo offered to fans as a surprise gift in form of a free download card at previous show dates, showcases a more club-oriented beat structure alongside Kiasmos’ signature emotive instrumentation. 
 
Closing the EP is a remix from Berlin-based duo Tale of Us who met Kiasmos in London and twist the original downbeat title track
into their distinctively dark aesthetic. Pulsating hats and a driving bass loop add pace as the track builds toward an epic breakdown.

The ‘Swept EP’ will be released on 12”/DL via Erased Tapes on November 20th, 2015.
