DEEPER TONG: SPÆCIAL MIX 422

Berlin-based synth-wave band Dina Summer released their highly anticipated second album 'Girls Gang' earlier this year via Iptamenos Discos. The super band which is formed by Kalipo (also known for his work with electro-punk band Frittenbude) and dark disco DJ/producer duo Local Suicide first made waves in the scene with their 2021 EP ‚Who Am I‘ before releasing their critically acclaimed 2022 debut album ‚Rimini‘ and 2024 EP ‘Hide & Seek’. They also contributed to Curses’ ‘Next Wave Acid Punx‘ compilation, participated in Purple Mag x radiooooo’s '2070' project, and performed at Reeperbahn Festival's prestigious ‘Collide Session’.

The new album is a versatile collection of 11 tracks that delve into themes such as empowerment, outsiderhood, impermanence, nostalgia, and relationships. While their debut album was characterized by its club-centric sound, drawing from italo disco and '90s electro influences, this new release explores a richer palette of new wave, post punk, and synth pop. The sophomore longplayer is more song-oriented, often featuring real bass and guitar, and showcases a more vocal-driven performance from frontwoman Dina, incorporating more singing alongside her trademark spoken words. Yet, it retains the same catchy melodies Dina Summer is known for, offering both indie pop hymns and a few undeniable club anthems.

After recently releasing a bunch of remixes by DJ Hell, Damon Jee, Phunkadelica, The Populists, Karassimeon, Boys’ Shorts, Karla Lynch, Moderna, The World Domination, & Etane the trio is now back with even more reworks by befriended artists Joyce Muniz, Stockholm Syndrome, IBÄ, Nici Palm & JG Outsider!

The uprising Leipzig-based DJ, producer and party curator Nici Palm chops up & re-arranges the vocals from ’No More Tears’ and adds a tech groove and multiple rich synth layers to create an ode of female empowerment.

Logia Records presents TOVI- Groove Invoker EP. TOVI is an Argentine DJ and producer, co-founder of the production company Corr, along with other DJs from the local Buenos Aires scene. His sound on the dance floor is characterized by a constant and pronounced groove, progressive, with hypnotic and dark undertones, transmitting an energy that keeps the audience dancing.
This EP features two other great exponents of the Argentine scene: PAXU, who is increasingly gaining ground on the city's dance floors and a member of our friendly label Slow Cycle, and Cosmosolar, who has been making a name for himself internationally for some time now, part of the Modula team, another major Argentine label.

SPÆCIAL PREMIERE: Galope Messier - Vórtice Onírico (Osccurate Remix) [Burning Synths]

Jean-Jacques Perrey from Paris was one of the first Moog musicians, creating "far out electronic entertainment" already in the 1960s. He released albums with names we love like "Musique Electronique Du Cosmos (Electronic Music From Outer Space)" (1962) or "Cadmus Le Robot De L'Espace" even from 1959. We ran into "Cosmic Bird", this fantastic tune he recorded with Air in 2000 roughly, recently on an old CD, burnt from Audiogalaxy and Soulseek shares in the early 2000s which we didn't listen to for decades. It reminded us somehow of our first edit of "Popcorn" by Magic Men (and the original of course, the first synth chart hit by Hot Butter from 1972). It not only has a futuristic, but also a fun side to it and a psychedelic one too, like our favorite Italo tracks, so we decided to edit it to take the wonderful hypnotic madness of the original to the extreme. :) Enjoy! And listen to the original whereever you can find it.

For WS23 we head to Leeds, where Clandestino crew member Joe Morris has been involved in the underground music scene for over 15 years, with a sound that takes in influences from the glory days of Acid House, the melodic elements of Balearica and the drama of Disco. Here, Joe vibes us out with a stunning Balearic house tune, Cloud Nine. On remix duties we are thrilled to feature a master of the Balearic house scene, Max Essa.

Wonder Stories is a vinyl and digital label for left-field house, disco, and techno. While their sound is eclectic, many similarities can be heard in the ethos of the music. It’s earnest, forward-thinking, and danceable.
