Island Issues is back with a second release to close out its first year, this time in the form of another tastefully deep excursion from Dubbyman with remixes from Less J and Estrato Aurora.

Dubbyman landed on Island Issues precursor Saft back in 2021 after three years away. He is a cultured artist who likes to go deep into the atmospheric end of house and techno on labels like Ferrispark, Soul People Music and Deep Explorer, which he co-founded. He always brings a musical synth style and a hypnotic sense of groove as this latest offering shows once more.

'Obsession' finds him working with Bjak, who came up in Chicago's early 90s scene and has been making waves for three decades since. Together they lay down a deep, body-popping and mid-tempo electro rhythm. It's brought to life with steamy male vocals and boogie-tinged bass with a retro feel and tender piano chords that melt the heart.

The L’ Hospitalet rising star Less J remix flips the track into a smoky basement house cut with candle-lit piano chords. Distant vocals bring the soul while seductive sax lines drift in and out next to the atmospheric sounds of a live jazz club.

Estrato Aurora has been a key part of the Valencia underground for almost 20 years. He has a wide array of hardware and has landed on labels like Appian Sounds, On Boards Music and Bliq. His first vocal remix is blissed out and loose, with heady chords and tumbling percussion sinking you into a reverie. Then comes a breaks remix that is more dynamic and driving, with crisp hits and broken beat drums overlaid with diffuse chords. It's brilliantly intimate yet sure to lock in the dance floor.

Dubbyman's 'Obsession' is another great package from Island Issues that should be under every deep house aficionado’s Christmas Tree.

German label Emerald & Doreen welcomes once more Jerry Bouthier to mix its best releases of the year as a means to reflect its vibrant state of play. For the occasion the French DJ/producer has crafted not one but two 1h mixes as a couple of fairly distinct perspectives increasingly characterise the imprint's output.

One may claim this significant pairing of like-minded individuals was destined to be, not least for a shared appreciation of the chronic interactions of all things indie and dance. Part of the Kitsuné family, sound-designer of Vivienne Westwood and other fashion labels, forever advocating balearic open-mindedness Bouthier tirelessly supports the cross-breeding of genres and the bending of conventions, bearing endless enthusiasm for what's to come next - a shared notion that runs deep within Emerald & Doreen's DNA.

With time E&D has gradually yet consistently embraced a darker approach. Oscillating between the likes of John Carpenter's mysteriously evocative synthetic soundtracks and the industrial narco-grooves of sadly departed Andrew Weatherall, this slightly somber vision - growing from strength to strength and eventually designated as dark disco - dispenses almighty thunder loaded with extra sensory effects cranked up to 11.
That's not to say Emerald & Doreen's distinctive melodic investigations have been left out. Still an appreciable staple of the label in its numerous electronic shapes, melody - light - is by all means much favoured, providing limitless soothing beams of hope to the soul.

Balancing symmetrical energies much like the yin yang philosophy, Dark & Light suggest an altogether fundamental connection naturally relating to these extraordinary times. Besides, the two mixes come under the Resis.tanz tag, a mix series (to stream and download for free) Jerry conceived during lockdown: generous tracks in various resonating moods to fight back, bring hope and gratification to this uncertain period; a symbolic gesture that has allowed for an opportune alliance to boot.

Noise Music (Netherlands), Emerald & Doreen (Germany), Futureboogie Recordings (UK), or in the Beats Of No Nation series (Australia).

He now lands on Melómana with "MoonFlowers", accompanied by remixes by Azaria & Lebollet and Plastico. The whole sounds thunderous, forcefully, aimed at making the best dance floors explode. Of course, with its essence, electric and powerful, which has always characterized the Melómana catalog, knowing very well how to move to another dimension.

Durand - Estramonio [LATIDO]

Host of Granada-based Mordisco Club parties, where the likes of Jennifer Cardini, Red Axes, Curses, Sascha Funke, Fort Romeau, John Talabot, Zombies in Miami or Marvin & Guy- to name a few - have graced the decks, and half of the Spanish DJ and producer duo Mordisco, kicks off his own label LATIDO. Imprint of different sounds and genres ranging from disco and techno to post-punk and everything in between. Synth, trance melodies and cosmic chords with psychedelic vibes and vibrant drums. New Wave with flashes of 80's EBM, Electro and New Beat. In sum, a sound where both synths and guitars feel at home on 4/4 beats.

The second release of LATIDO will be out next March 5 and joins together a slew of new forces showcase their production flairs in a four tracks original compilation. One of those tracks is run by the South of Spain based Durand, artist connected to electronic music from a very young age, developing an extensive career as a dj and club promoter and owner before starting to produce his own music only a couple of years ago. In this time he has already released excellent eps on Factor City, Nein Records, and one on Esthetique, played by the likes of The Hacker, Ivan Smagghe or Curses. For his debut on Latido he delivers "Estramonio", a 6 minute-long winding synth excursion with powerful modulating basslines and infectious rhythms specially designed for a cosmic party.
