Originally part of a small crop of American artists inspired by dubstep, garage, grime, jungle and other ‘nuum sounds, Kastle has transitioned through multiple aesthetic iterations since he burst into the popular consciousness 8+ years ago. The past year saw him re-focus his idiosyncratic lens on his roots of UKG and put out several tracks that received regular rotation on radio and many DJs top charts. Whether it was the instant cult classic "4 Real", the collaborations with Mind Of A Dragon, or his remixes for legends like Scott Diaz and AC Slater.

With that momentum we are happy to present "Get Right Inside", a compilation hand selected and mixed by Kastle as he continues to explore garage musics timeless sounds with hints of UK funky that perfectly fit the vibe. Half of the album is exclusive and brand new, a testament to the artists dedication to new sounds and building his own unique world.

The mix kicks off on a low-key vibe with tracks from On1 and Duncan Powell, both a bit ethereal and subtle in their details. We quickly get into an exclusive from Kastle himself, with a vocal number featuring Olivia-Louise & SAZ. As the mix rolls on it gets into some dusty bits from Exit99 and Opus -- a classic sound but still forever in the present moment. Shortly after Higgo's smooth "Interlude" the mix transitions into a few UK funky numbers from some of the best: Roska, Leda Stray, High Class Filter and Ozwald. This allows for a nice transition into some 4x4 from Tuff Culture before ending the mix on the 2-step vibe with ZeroFG's remix of "Darkside" and Cellardore's exclusive, "Get Right Inside", which you will recognize as the namesake for the album -- a nod to the compilers interest and focus on using music to affect positive psychological change inside our minds. Finally, we've got a special Kastle remix of Mind Of A Dragon's "L.T.T.M." featuring Shantie before we close out with Four40’s very own Conrad Glimpse

How do you top the lead collaboration from the last FNG (Funky & Garage) EP consisting of Nottingham's most accoladed bass/funky producer - Killjoy, and everyone’s favourite Hackney host - Shantie? Not an easy task by any means, but one that 1Forty relishes. And the outcome? One of Roska Kicks & Snare’s flagship artists in recent years Murder He Wrote links up with Nottingham's stand out Grime MC - Snowy.

With influences spanning UKG, Hip-Hop, Dancehall and Drum & Bass, Murder He Wrote is one of the most distinctive producers in the UK’s fertile bass scene. His original productions have seen him not just make himself right at home on RKS but his prolific remix schedule has taken in official reworks that have released across the likes of Black Butter, Universal and Skrillex’s NEST imprint. 2017/18 saw debut performances in China, Australia and Canada whilst maintaining a healthy schedule across the UK and Europe, shows and festivals alike.

Regular appearances on the airwaves included Guest Mix’s and shows on Rinse FM, NTS and BBC Radio 1 where Toddla T named him as one of his Freshman 2017 alongside AJ Tracey and Nadia Rose. The end of 2018 marked the birth of his own imprint - Rhythm Athletic, with its debut release topping the Juno Download & Beatport charts and gaining support from the likes of Zed Bias, Redlight and Gilles Peterson. With collaborations lined up for 2019 with NYTA, Chrystal and MC Fox and a second Australia Tour already under his belt this release is just the cherry on top of the Honey, Lemon & Ginger..

On the vocal is ‘Nottinghams Saviour’ aka Snowy, a rising star of the underground Grime scene who has been tipped for a huge career by the likes of Complex, Crack and Mixmag. Snowy has continued to build on this profile over the last couple of years. The UK’s hottest sound selectors regularly support his releases inc. the likes of Mistajam, Toddla T, Sian Anderson, Logan Sama, Dj Cable, Plastician, Target and many more. He has made a number of appearances on 1Xtra, both solo for Spyro’s #SoundsOfTheVerse and and sets with the likes of Flowdan, Jammz, Tommy B, Shadow amongst others. His shows have taken him out to the likes of Dubai alongside Skepta and Stormzy and in 2017 became the first ever artist to take Grime to Estonia and the start of 2019 saw him perform in Ethopia alongside another 1Forty featured artist - Maxsta.

Snowys portfolio of tracks has been the catalyst of his growth and has regularly found himself recording at Red Bull Studios in London. Throughout this time he's caught the attention of Idris Elba, Lily Allen and Mike Skinner, the latter signing his track ‘Going On’ to his Label. His music is well known for his unique Nottingham slang and style. Snowys sound encompasses many genres, his ‘Callous’ EP released earlier this year was a diverse body of work which firmly represented this. After achieving his goal of rising through the ranks and dragging the Nottingham scene to the forefront of Grime, Snowy is focusing on carving his name out as not just a high energy stage show performer and MC but a versatile artist as shown with this next release.

Though probably unbeknownst to him, Brighton’s Pavv released one of my all-time favourite UK Bass tunes with ‘Know Your Name’ around four years ago; a crushing, sludgy effort with a sharp drum arrangement, the song scratched all the right itches and made me an instant fan. Fast forward to now and I’ve been on something of a Garage rediscovery - through some cosmic coincidence it seems Pavv, at least in terms of his production style, is walking a similar path.



‘Who Dis’ is a surprisingly ambitious effort for it's short runtime blending Funky, Bass and Garage influences together rather beautifully and, although my review style is generally positive, I have to concede that ‘Who Dis’ stands out in particular as one of my favourite listens of the last 12 months. Whether this is a ‘right place at the right time’ scenario remains to be seen but regardless I expect some heavy rotation of this EP as the summer looms ever closer.

Kicking off with effervescent, eponymous Garage number ‘Who Dis’, Pavv plays with several vocal samples, key stabs and piano motifs and the end-product is a decidedly fresh arrangement reminiscent of Mike Millrain. The track absolutely glides through its five minute, twenty six second runtime and transitions easily into the next track on the billing ‘When You Say’. It is around this point in the EP, on my fourth listen through, where it dawned on me that the brilliance of this EP lies in its ability to capture all the energy of a sizeable set in just three tracks...
