Millions of people all over the world are showing their concern for the environment and are worried about climate change. In 2004 I wrote an orchestral piece called "The Future of Progress?" where I wondered about those very issues. The music depicts scenes of nature, beautiful, tranquil and calm to fire the imagination. Those scenes are contrasted by music evoking the destruction of nature, the exploitation of our natural resources and ultimately the destruction of ourselves.
The music is written by Emiel F.A.J. Stöpler. The performance is by the Fauxharmonic Orchestra.

The Future of Progress?

"Helicopter View" by Emiel Stöpler. I wrote this piece around the year 1994 on a Yamaha SY77 synthesizer and thought I'd share it here. I wrote approximately eighty pieces on this synthesizer, though only a handful of them I consider of "good enough quality". It's partly on this Yamaha synth that I developed my skills as a composer.
