For Podcast #165, we’re thrilled to bring you the live recording of F-ON’s opening set from this year’s Paral.lel Festival. 

Paral.lel was, for us, the most nourishing of soul food. Set in the spectacular, breath-taking mountains two-hours north of Barcelona, deep green tree-covered mountains enclosed the dancefloor, an endless stretch of sky reached overhead, a beautiful sound system ensured the frequencies permeated, engulfing us in their warm embrace, and a crowd of beautiful, like-minded souls came together, surrendering to the rhythms and grooves gifted to us by an impressive line-up of talent over 2.5 days.

Magic is almost inevitable when people are united by their shared, deep devotion to music. Throw in nature in its rawest, awe-inspiring form, and of course the music itself delivered with such passion and attentiveness, and you have very raw and real energetic alignment which naturally culminates in countless memorable moments. And it was indeed a weekend of magical moments - where the shadows of clouds sweeping across a canvass of trees aligning the slopes were our only reminder that life and time moved on while we lost ourselves in the mountains.

Esteemed DJ, producer and promoter from Madrid, F-ON (aka Alfonso Pomeda) was on the festival’s opening duties on Friday afternoon, ensuring the warmest of welcomes to the Paral.lel community as they arrived on site. And indeed, his set was as warm and inviting as his smile; deep and down-tempo, with sultry grooves and long, steady, alluring mixes; frequencies gently reverberating off the mountains and trees surrounding us, reaching out and inviting us in. What better way to kick-start a very special weekend celebrating the music we love.

Adept at experimenting with a wide variety of musical sequences and soundscapes, Eafhm is also the founder of the well respected label @secuencias_temporales. This latest mix is in fact an exploration of the label's 2021 release by Morpha.

Forest On Stasys (@forestonstasys), owner and electronic explorer in Danza Nativa (@danza-nativa). The creativity of Forest On Stasys is Influenced by tribal minimalist techno in the nineties and the deepest and most abstract techno currently. In his tracks the most seductive elements are the use of resonant basses perfectly combined with long and reverberated pads, extensive sonorous landscapes that are modified by continuous movement of LFO, solid grooves and strident percussions. But not everything that comes out of his head is created with an intention to be used on the dance floor. He has a great admiration for drone and ambient tracks, without a rhythmic pattern that predominates, where the main factor is to captivate the listener with melodies that can be marked by a strong melancholy or with notes that give a certain feeling of satisfaction depending on his current mood.

Established in Amsterdam, Viktor has dedicated almost a decade to playing and experimenting with electronic music. DJ and Producer he is now mostly affiliated with the ISOTOOP collective, helping with transmitting their unique sonic identity. Today, Vand is delivering a beautiful selection of deep electronic music. Driving slower and deeper he is introducing us to his world.

Apart from the enormous support she is offering to the scene, Irina has joined musical muscles with her partner Gilles Wasserman in a duo known as Moon Patrol, creating breathtaking arrangements and being released on such labels as @huinalidub and @on-board-music, including the upcoming solo contribution to the charity compilation on @melifera_records.

ABSIS is Salva Coromina, a regular DJ on the Barcelona scene since the late 90s under the alias mouseDown/MouseUp. He was a resident DJ at The Loft (Razzmatazz) and a regular at Sonar for many years, he has always been exploring the deepest side of electronic music moving from ambient to techno. ABSIS currently runs his monthly residency at Club Laut in Barcelona under the name of Midline, where he has invited DJs such as Vand, Daniel(i), Unjin, Doctrina Natura, Mod1, John Plaza, Guillam, Fon... he is also a resident of the festival MOSTRA in Barcelona and its productions are published on labels such as hivern discs and Oslated among others.
