Yuki Matsumura is an electronic music producer from Kochi, Japan. He started PC/software-based production in 2007. His music is thoroughly processed and edited with synthesised electronic sounds, and the boundaries between sound and music are removed to create an aural work of art.
Music Video "Solo Scum" was selected as a Vimeo STUFF PICK, won 3rd place in the Berlin Music Video Awards 2015 Best Experimental category nominate, screened at Krakowfilmfestival in Poland.
Selected as a Jury Special Mention in the Entertainment category at the Japan Media Arts Festival.

As Bright Patterns completes its fourth trip around the sun, we welcome Imaginary Softwoods as the special guest for November. It’s been a dream of mine to have John Elliott on the show. He’s been a part of so many incredible projects: Mist, Outer Space, Organic Dial, Emeralds—not to mention all of the eternally awesome records that were released via his expert curation on Spectrum Spools. It’s a treasure trove. All that said, the vast output of John’s solo project, Imaginary Softwoods, sits firmly atop this immense pile of sonic wonder. So many of these cuts have been played on Bright Patterns over the last four years. It is a vibe I carry with me, one that’s deeply embedded in my relationship to music. The last time I heard a mix from John was 2017 and I still talk about how good it is. With all of the gratitude to everyone who listens, I hope you’ll enjoy this mix of what he’s been listening to lately. Designed as a bit of a balm for a world in pain, it covers contemporary selections with a few new age classics, reflecting the daily eclecticism of his auditory diet. It also ushers in a new era for Bright Patterns, where it will run from 9am to 10am ET with the same Thursday cadence as it has been, each month, since the beginning.

Morphing Territories’ music explores the delicate balance between power and emotion. Its timeless approach to techno is based on the hypnotic, unpredictable atmospheres of modular synthesis and field recording.

Inspired by the nature of his native Switzerland, Morphing Territories is on a boundless quest to per-fect the beat. Through tireless improvisation and introverted self-discovery, his finely-sculpted sound constructs push the boundaries of both complexity and simplicity.

As an extension of his musical vision, Morphing Territories’ self-titled label presents a full range of psychedelic dancefloor experiences. His own releases there, as well as for labels like KCZ, Oslated and On Board Music, channel spontaneity and even chaos into purist, deeply-affecting techno trips.

The vibe he creates in the studio is developed further by his journeying DJ or live sets, as well as by his mix series Sense. Altogether, the distinct avenues create a complete sound world, where the re-lentless beat of a drum, the trails of driving rhythms and the warmth of soaring pads combine into a potent formula.

Mental and hypnotic, this is what best defines Onohno’s music, which always seeks to create bridges between different genres of electronic music.

Drawing inspiration from both deep-techno and the club techno scene, as well as the free party tribe, he develops a hybrid, abstract aesthetic of electronic music, oscillating between erratic, mechanical rhythms and organic, percussive sounds with the aim of taking the audience on a psychedelic, immersive and disorienting journey.

With this in mind, he founded Akalara, a soundcloud podcast series and label in which he invites emerging artists to propose and promote their vision of this psychedelic, experimental music.

Human Lessons #090 - Altjira

This is a very special one. Here I host a mix by someone very close to home.. I’ve been begging him to make a mix for this series for ages, but he’s even more of a perfectionist than i am.  Clearly the wait has paid off!

I’m always astonished by sam’s humble talent. His artist name, ‘nino’ is an endearing homage to our beloved grandfather Nino, as well as our Croatian roots. Nino was an architect for decades. Sam’s own architectural talent lies in his creative ear...shining through in this unique, and magically woven musical journey :) enjoy !
