techno sets

For the second episode of our Herbarium Podcast series, we are pleased to welcome French producer and DJ @vardaemusic. 
The co-owner of @cosmicwaverecords presents a powerful mixture of breaks and straight beats interspersed with irresistible grooves from the faster realms of our genre direction. 
For this mix we have chosen the shrub 'Genista', which can be found all over Europe. In autumn, the plant forms elongated legumes that can contain up to 30 tiny seeds. These are widely dispersed by a centrifugal mechanism, the movement of which evokes in us strong associations with Vardae's mix.

Our latest mix is a remarkable live set from The Hague-based producer Harald Uunk, who guides us through an exploration of the psyche from which we emerge anew. Harald calls upon self-made instruments, field recordings, and experimentation with hardware and software to reach the furthest limits of his sonic vision, and what we discover there is breathtaking. An immediate and compelling sense of urgency finds itself fractured, recomposed, and through the fragments we glimpse the primordial. I've been eager to hear more of Harald's work for quite some time, so the opportunity to share this set for the series feels truly special. Enjoy the journey, and thank you Harald!

Bio:

Salva Coromina  aka ABSIS. 
His involvement in the Barcelona scene began in the late 90s under the alias MouseDown/MouseUp, having years of experience as Dj resident in club such as Razzmatazz (The loft) and festivals like Sonar.
He has always been exploring the deeper side of electronic music, moving from ambient to techno. ABSIS currently runs his residency at Laut club in Barcelona with the Midline parties... he is also a resident at the MOSTRA festival in Barcelona and his productions are published on labels such as hivern discs, Affin and Oslated among others.

gi (@gistrung) is a musician from Gadi (Sydney). Her sound blurs the outer limits of drone, idm and techno, interested in how generative sound design and asynchronous repetition can coalesce to create emotional music. Following self-released sketches in 2022, and contributions to compilations by Comic Sans Records (FR), Pure Space (AUS), Twin System (UK), Companion (AUS) she released her debut EP on Altered States Tapes in October 2023 and follow-up liveset EP on Beyond the Bridge (Seoul) in March 2024. In 2024 gi presented her debut album on Absorb (AUS) and launched the World of Knots label, while continuing to refine her unique style of warehouse oriented experimentalism, across live and DJ sets.

Mostra (@mostrabcn) is an independent, small-format festival of avant-garde and experimental electronic music which emerged by the end of 2021 as a counterpoint to the macro-festivals and the overcrowded, commercial and impersonal offerings of other large events held in Barcelona. Mostra will be celebrating its fourth edition from 17 to 20 April in 2025.

I met Yutaro, better known as Toner, last year when I visited Japan. And his appearance at Dommune hit it. It was a no-brainer to invite him for the Cleptu series. Curating his ambient oriented "The Line Shifting to Dots" parties. That focuses on physical deep listening. He will  deconstruct and smudge out the tactile surroundings that will drive your mind into the unknown.
