Returning to the Ransom Note Records offshoot, Insult To Injury boss Timothy Clerkin presents four prime cuts of rave meatiness for our ravenous consumption. Showing off his chops, Timothy’s distinctive Acid sound collides head on with Jungle and Breakbeat elements, put through the mincer to form an EP of epic dance floor destroyers.
Our choice here felt to Tour de Trance which takes the tempo down a notch, whilst revving up the Hands-In-The-Air-O-Meter! Big, analogue synths build throughout, sweeping us up and taking us to a place of pure ecstasy by the end.

According to the Cambridge Dictionary, a curse can be defined as “something evil or unpleasant that happens to someone, by or as if by a magical power”. It sounds like a thing to be avoided, doesn’t it? What if there was a good curse? If you doubt such a thing exists, just check Sadissmo’s debut EP on NEIN Records: “Dance Curse” (See? A good one) comes packed with highly danceable cuts featuring tribalism-infused elements and wilderness-soaked vibes. Besides two competent originals, the release breezes in with a splendid remix by the label honcho himself, Sir Neil Parnell aka Tronik Youth (SXDNS050/TAKEOVER001). 

Very little is known about Sadissmo. Our ruthless detectives found his real name is Raymundo and that he is currently based in Guadalajara, Mexico. The obscure artist seems to focus on his craft instead of social media & whatnot, hence the scarcity of information about him. Kudos!  

The remixer, on the other hand, needs no introduction: Mr. Youth has been keeping the fire burning for quite some time and he shows no signs of getting tired of delivering high-quality Indie Dance/Dark Disco themes. For his interpretation of the title track, Neil started spicing things up by going from 114 to 123 BPM. The OMG-bassline topped by the ominous vocal hooks completes the bewitchment of this beautiful curse.

DJ duo Studio Batsumi (aka Federico Bigonzetti & Marta Paccagnella) reveal details for the first release of their self-titled joint label venture with five-track EP Cosmicomics. The first musical outing from the pair’s new imprint, Studio Batsumi are set to release their original records via the label, as well as offering a platform for burgeoning artists to release their music. With a focus on analogue, for the first few months all releases will be vinyl only (exclusively via Bandcamp). Making the natural step up from selectors and musicians to bona fide label bosses, founding the label marks a new beginning for the pair.

Known for their genre-defying DJ sets, regularly appearing at London’s most reputable listening bars such as Spiritland, Brilliant Corners and Supermax, as well as club previous shows at The Ton of Brix, The Jago, Cafe 1001 and The Waiting Room, the Studio Batsumi imprint plans to follow suit, genre-fluid while sonically defined, much like the pair’s DJ offering.

With the launch EP Cosmicomics written and produced by Federico alongside Parisian guitarist, producer and sound engineer Maxime Obadia, the varying musical backgrounds of the two artists demonstrates this versatile aesthetic for the label expertly, with Fede rooted in electronic and Maxime’s rock background working in harmony on the EP. Combining live instruments with drum machines, synths and a host of genre influences. Artists such as such The Pilotwings, GHF, Kalbata, YuSu, and L’Éclair have been cited as influences on the first EP.

Featuring three original tracks, a remix from esteemed Turkish DJ and producer Jonny Rock and one of Federico’s own versions on B2, the tracks range from bassline-driven downtempo chuggers, dreamy guitar riffs, trippy arpeggios and distorted, wonky pads for a rich and eclectic sound palette to work on and off the dancefloor. Texturised layers of live instrumentation and analogue equipment further enhance the organic and unique quality of Studio Batsumi sound.

With an artist-first approach, Studio Batsumi releases will be on a limited 300-press run, sold exclusively via Bandcamp. To celebrate the launch of the label, on Saturday 13 April the duo will host an in store at Hidden Sounds in Dalston, with the party carrying on at Brilliant Corners where the pair will play a special all-night-long set.

After releasing the banger “Keep It Strong” one year ago, Patricio Diaz is back with his very first release.

The eponym track “Nights Lights” is a pure track mixing Trance and Italo influences.
An ode to gathering and smiling on the dancefloor.

“Walking At Dawn”, always with a trance touch, a little faster, is the perfect track to let you go. By the way, the track groove seems straight out of a 80s road movie.
 
ROTCIV signs here a mental, dark, almost disturbing remix.
But faithful to its origins, he brings an undeniable disco side too.
A transcendental music for the robots !

To close the strong release, Theo Scuera brings to “Night Lights” a more progressive 90s touch. Music to be experienced only by tapping your feet loudly and jumping on the dancefloor.

These are challenging times in the middle east. As the situation in Gaza gets worse daily, we are committed to doing what we can to end this conflict, and provide aid to the residents of Gaza, as well as all Palestinians in the west bank.

All proceeds from Confused Machines' digital sales will go directly to Physicians For Human Rights – Israel (PHRI) www.phr.org.il, which continues its medical work and humanitarian aid in the West Bank despite the difficult circumstances.

Since October 2023, PHRI has doubled its activity in the West Bank and is sending two weekly mobile clinic visits to help communities that are cut off from medical treatment due to the severe wave of settler and military violence, movement restrictions, and the financial crisis in the West Bank.

PHRI is currently unable to operate in Gaza due to restrictions by the Israeli authorities, and have been barred from delivering aid to the strip. PHRI is constantly working to resume these activities and will do so as soon as the circumstances allow.

We urge for an immediate ceasefire, the return of all hostages, and a peaceful future for all inhabitants of this troubled land.

PREMIERE: Autarkic - No More Bloodshed [Confused Machines]

Meet Stipa – a moniker and a concept, created by Ukrainian musician Daria Maksymova. Daria has been around in music production for many years – though focusing on darker sound. However, when life itself became too dark, with the ongoing full-scale invasion to Ukraine happening, it was time to turn around and capture the opposite mood. 

That’s how Stipa was created, and that’s why the EP sounds the way it does. The creative process was always for Daria a coping mechanism: a way to escape reality and find a better place. Naturally, this way it’s possible to capture the moment, the feeling, a place, a certain experience forever and share it with those in need – like people of Ukraine, who struggle to find an escape from everyday wearies of war.

The EP is three original tracks toying with funk, disco and house genres, where Stipa showcasing her excellent producer’s skills and unique vision of melodies and song structures. The EP feels like a child of sun and summer and designed for recreating purposes – or for DJs summer sets on cozy patios while there’s a sunset in the background. To extend the pleasure, we invited two Ukrainian producers – Kadiristy & Rustam to make sure there’s a remix to anyone’s taste: from smooth deep house to groovy electro funk.

Daria shares more about the creation process: “I need a Ukrainian soundscape that makes me feel good. Listening to the world heritage of great disco and funky music is a pleasure, but it feels like visiting a friend's house. I wanted to build the room of my dreams at home – an imaginary soundscape where Mariia Prymachenko’s weird creatures could dance without feeling like foreigners.
My favourite part of parties has always been the morning. When the sun rises, glitter shines on smiling faces, and a sense of belonging and acceptance fills the air. It’s a fleeting moment of unconditional love, something so rare in life. 
I named this EP “Unconditional Love” as a reminder to myself and others to love the people around us while we are together – Любіть живих”.

Daria’s track was the one to open the label's first ever release. Now the exciting appearance of Stipa among other Regulardisco releases adds variety to Ukrainian music to be showcased here among upcoming years.

Emile Strunz was born in a bedroom in Burleigh Street, South Shields, on the dancefloors of Ibiza, Spain and Germany and amidst the fire and fury, dry ice, and strobes at many a Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb gig. Exposure to the UK's club scene over an 18 year period also saw Emile contribute to Mixmag and write press releases for the Cream empire whilst interviewing Moby, Richie Hawtin, and Depeche Mode's former sonic architect, Alan Wilder, for his Clubs column whilst at university. 

His debut single, Shields, released on Andy Blake and Joe Hart's World Unknown label was a first introduction to his hard, heavy and hypnotic electronic sound, and was number 1 on Juno Records' Electro House Chart and Record of the Week on Piccadilly Records' House Chart.

"Shields" sounds like that exact point when EBM and nu-beat was on the verge of becoming house music... Or perhaps when Paul Oakenfold decided that sluggish acid house was what the world needed (think of his Happy Mondays "Wrote For Luck refix") - Piccadilly Records

The Voyetra Technique EP was released on People Get Real's Join our Club label in November 2013.  People who you know (who can't say no), was released on Ali Renault's Vivod label in January 2014 - and was broadcast in full on Erol Alkan's Friday night BBC Radio 6 Music show. 

Emile made his live debut in Rotterdam in 2013, alongside Das Ding, and to Newcastle, and the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London.  In early 2014 he toured Russia playing packed venues in Moscow and St Petersburg, then played live alongside Scott Fraser and Timothy J Fairplay at Hackney's Oslo venue, played the (Still) the enemy within event in East London alongside Test Department, and his live show followed The Hacker's DJ set at Berlin's Magic Waves Festival.  

He contributed 'A Fine Balance' to the soundtrack of the critically acclaimed documentary Still the Enemy Within.

Subsequent gigs in Glasgow and Amsterdam saw Emile round off 2014 nicely. January 2016 saw Emile make his debut in Spain playing Femur at the legendary Specka Club in Madrid, and two more remixes on NEIN Records followed that year. His Eastern-tinged 303-driven track ‘Bubastis’ came out on Portland, Oregon’s Dark Leader label later that year.

More sporadic and chaotic gigs followed, playing Czech Republic and Holland in 2018. He returned to Holland in 2019 where his set opened the Intergalactic FM Festival in The Hague. 2019 ended with a propulsive re-rub of "Elan Vital' turning the New Beat of the original into a 115bpm EBM banger on New York's Wonder Stories label, and another remix on NEIN. 2020 saw the release of the throbbing States of Mind on Glasgow’s Lunacy Records and the electro themed Casual Violence on Sulk Magic came out in 2022.
