Formerly performing under the moniker Miss Emily Brown, Emily Millard is a Canadian singer-songwriter whose unique blend of art-folk, roots-pop and jazz has been called “inventive”, “decadent” and “beautifully ethereal”. To be released in March 2016, By Heron & By Season marks her first full-length solo release since 2010, and her first release under her birth name.

Emily has toured extensively throughout Canada and Germany, both headlining and supporting such talents as Jeremy Fisher and the Alin Coen Band. In the last six years, she has released four solo records and three collaborative records with Canadian chamber-folk ensemble Morlove. Her 2010 record In Technicolor was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award for Pushing the Boundaries and a CBC Radio Bucky Award for Best New Artist.

By Heron & By Season is a colourful and surprising journey into the depths of memory and dreamscape. Produced by Sandro Perri, the analog recording features some of Canada’s most innovative instrumentalists including violinist Jesse Zubot (Tanya Tagaq), cellist Peggy Lee (Veda Hille), drummer Dan Gaucher (Fond of Tigers, Woodpigeon) and bassist Colin Nealis (Andy Schauf, Aidan Knight).
