FAN-FUNDED ALBUM RELEASED JULY 30

The sophomore full-length album from American singer-songwriter Emily Mure will be independently released on July 30, 2013. Odyssey features nine original songs and one cover. Produced by Emily Mure, the fan-funded album was recorded in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn at Studio 76, with sound engineer Brandon Wilde.

The songs on Odyssey are unashamedly honest self-reflections of an artist schooled in two notably different traditions of music. The album incorporates Mure’s 14 years of classical music training into her self-taught folk singing and songwriting. On her title track “Odyssey,” Mure tells the tale of a trip out West with friends in a 1997 Honda Odyssey and arranges the song with pedal steel, piano, glockenspiel and acoustic guitar. On her version of “Mexico” by the band Cake, she reworks the song for an unlikely trio of acoustic guitar, oboe and cello to accompany her smoky voice.

On Odyssey Mure is joined by musicians including award-winning classical cellist Elizabeth Means, classical oboist and english horn player Emily DiAngelo, bluegrass guitarist and pedal steel player Thomas Bryan Eaton of Miss Tess, and vocalist and award-winning singer-songwriter Michaela Anne. The result is a soulful Indie Folk album with sophisticated songwriting, rich with emotive melodies and eclectic instrumentations.

Odyssey is Emily’s second full-length album. She self released and produced her first album Where I Began (2009) at Engine Room Audio in NYC. It was mastered by Mark Christensen (Wakey! Wakey!, The Killers).

In conjunction with the album’s release, Emily will be touring around the Northeast and Southeast.
