This song encapsulates the cycle that is always occurring between contraction and expansion of the Heart. It’s about the fierce vacillation between melting, softening, and then closing, losing faith and ground. And then trusting again and coming out of fear and softening again.

Melting is a song about my devotion to healing. I want to continue to open my heart, soften and melt into a state of grace. This is the journey. This ebb and flow are the ever changing winds and I’m flying the best I know how…

Can We Still Be Wild ?

Written on Dec 26th, after the “holidays come and go”, a line from the second line of the song. That period of time when we have new years to look forward to but it’s the beginning of when I enter the deep winter months - and the pull to introvert is strong. This song is a letter to my mom and dad quite literally reminding them to not worry about me. I am no stranger of aloneness and sometimes that can turn into loneliness. Longing for a partner has been a strong force behind my longing which creates the depth and ache which you can hear in the lyrics “don’t want loneliness to be my legacy”. There is redemption and an openness to a new world emerging where there is a remembrance that we can be one with God and Spirit.

my kitten saw light beams coming in through the between the cracks in the shades and I said to her “you can’t catch the light”. From this moment, the song was born. Inspired by a relationship with someone who wasn’t harnessing their own creative gifts I had to take a look in the mirror and ask myself what light do i hold inside that is unique and authentic that I could be sharing more of? The answer to this is forever going to be the gift of my voice but it’s more than that. It’s my humility and honesty about who I am and who I am not. This song is an invitation to look inside and inquire what is your unique contribution to this world? There is no wrong answer.

This song was written during the middle of the pandemic. My small apartment felt like it was closing in on me as I was home ALL the time. I needed some sort of change, anything would do so I started seeking a new place to live by taking trips to other states in the U.S. I was lonely and wanted a home and a partner to share it with. After multiple trips to find my new home I realized that moving during the pandemic was, in fact, not a good idea. There are two parallel story lines happening throughout the song - the search for love and the search for home. In the end, sometimes the best option is to hold steady with your current situation until the new path becomes more clear. I had the profound realization that I had been staying single because I thought this was the safest path. I had been letting my inner child run my dating life. I needed to come out of the fog and into more clarity around the adult relationship I truly want.

Chasing Ghosts is co-written by Emily Lewis and Scott Liess (Santa Cruz, CA). It’s about holding on to the hope that there is a love that exists and doesn’t fade over time. Although the lyrics point towards romantic love this song is also about self love and a higher love that is infinite and lasting. How do we write a new story for our lives, when the old story is tired and no longer bringing us happiness? Chasing Ghosts blends rock americana elements with a hooky melody that leaves the listener wanting more. Lewis and Liess brought in some amazing local musicians including Keith Greeninger and players from Wolf Jett (Chris Jones on guitar 
Jon Payne on drums, and Duncan Shipton on Bass) to bring this song to its fullest expression.

You Are From Stars is a song about remembering that no matter what your unique creative offering is it’s needed and wanted in the world! Its an invitation to hold the larger perspective and truth that we all came from stardust and we all have light to shine while we are living this one precious life!

A Better Dream is about the inherent interconnectedness between all humans near and far. Despite the perceived separation, everything we do and say has an impact on something or someone else, no matter how big or small. It offers a deeper reflection and invitation: Can we dream a better dream, one of peace, liberation and true healing for ourselves and for the planet?

I wrote Monster from the perspective of the shadow aspect of self. It’s a song about reckoning with those aspects of ourselves that aren’t pretty. They are the gremlins of self-doubt, shame, fear, resistance that try to sabotage us from reaching our deeper potential. These aspects provide an uncomfortable friction to daily life. But without them we wouldn’t grow and evolve. Through the reconciliation and embracing of our shadow side comes the deeper self love we are aching to fully embrace as well as the inevitable advancing beyond previous upper limits. The line from the chorus “I’m not the monster that you ordered, but I’m the monster that you need” eludes to our shadow side as having the very medicine we need to transform but first we must transmute the relationship and learn how to work with our shadow side.
