My second solo album, BASS SOUNDS: Evolved, is an album of 18th century unaccompanied works for baroque cello, including the second Cello Suite by J.S. Bach, capriccis by Dall'Abaco, and études by Dotzauer. It is a follow-up to my first album, BASS SOUNDS, which included 17th century music for solo cello and the first Cello Suite by J.S. Bach.

Both of the albums were self-produced with no fundraising. All proceeds in album sales and downloads go directly to the artist.

About Emily:
Emily Davidson, baroque cellist, is a leading voice in the new generation of historical performance. Originally from New York, Emily currently lives, performs, and teaches in the Boston area. She has studied historical performance at festivals and academies nationwide, and appears regularly as a soloist and continuo player. She is the founder of Emergence Quartet, period-instrument string quartet, and has a forthcoming album of electronic classical remixes with @DjCUTMAN.

About BASS SOUNDS: Evolved
After exploring 17th century pieces for unaccompanied cello in her first BASS SOUNDS album, Davidson discovers new repertoire in BASS SOUNDS: Evolved. In contrast to the darker, bass line writing of earlier works, 18th century pieces begin to shift in style and aesthetic. Capriccis by Dall'Abaco, written after Bach's suites, use a higher range and are written in a more melodic style with harmony. Dotzauer's études, or exercises for solo cello, showcase the cello as it transitioned into the classical period and out of the baroque. In the middle is Bach's Second Cello Suite in D minor, to give listeners a chance to hear this popular work in the context of similar repertoire.
