Dedicated to all those going through domestic violence. 

In the process of writing this song, I explored the emotions that came up in a past violent relationship. 

There must have been 5 or 6 edits. Each time I changed the song, I indentified what was important for me to express, name and be witnessed for. 

My friends listened. They gave crucial feedback. (Thanks Mo) 

I'm putting this out there to tell my story for the record. 
Yeah it's entertaining but it's more than that. 

I need a witness.
And withness.

I left out the gruesome details. 
What remains is the essence which is the lesson. 

When you see red flags in a relationship, and you feel intuitively like you are not being respected and cherished as the unique and precious being you are, it's okay to walk away. 

And if you don't walk away after abuse and carry shame about that fact, let it go. It's part of the cycle and is totally normal to have attachment trauma. 

It takes years to rewire a brain back into sovereignty after emotional abuse. It takes work and it's not always easy. 

But I believe in you. We can forge new paths. 
The physical nervous system literally changes and it can also change again and again. 

So yeah, if you're reading this and you've gone through domestic violence or you're in a relationship that's unsafe, you have an opportunity here.

You can learn the hard way, or you can choose to put your hand in front of your body, claim your space and take the steps to walk away. 

You can make a plan.
