We premiere Scottish electronic music royalty, Vince Watson. The now Netherlands based artist returns for his incredible 13th album, which is no mean feat for any musician.

Vince has had a massive year with releases on Get Physical, Tronic, SushiTech, All Day I Dream, his own Everysoul Audio and a host of remixes. 

Vince ends 2021 by presenting his label’s biggest and most adventurous release to date, ‘DnA [re]Sequenced’. This is also accompanied by the [re]Sequenced Sampler which features 3 brand new mixes from the DnA album by Vince himself. The album also features some of electronic music titans including Carl Craig, Claude Young, Jon Dixon, Steve Rachmad, John Beltran, Shawn Rudiman, Stephen Lopkina and Stephen Brown.

After the massive response to Watson’s ‘DnA’ album in 2019, Vince had wanted to carve a different spin on the LP by having some of the tracks remixed by his favourite Detroit ‘flavoured’ artists from the three places that have influenced his music: Scotland, Amsterdam, Detroit. 

We premiere his track ‘First Wave [808 Mix]’. The track is reminiscent of some classic Galaxy 2 Galaxy records from Underground Resistance. A punchy but still funky 808 drum workout locks in the groove while angelic style synth work transcends you to space. Warm and fluffy pads simmer through the track while a powerful baseline runs through your body, the heavenly lead bounces around the track with an entrancing melody. The track is powerful, euphoric and tranquil all at the one time. 

This is proper electronic music.

We love bringing fresh talent to our roster and here is Narrow Peak releasing his first ever EP, right on ELBEREC. In an all-portuguese release, this producer from Vizela shows off an understanding of the different faces and shapes that Techno can display.

While all tracks present themselves with “in your face” sharpness and punch, you’ll be testifying the trippier, rougher synthwork of “Clinch” and “Jawbreaker” - pushing you to the edge with their fierce sound design -, and navigating off-kilter, almost dubstep infused territories on “Combo” and “Pressured”. Last but not least, the industrial tone and discombobulated kick drums on “Maul” can set alight even the most stubborn of dance floors - hysteria assured!

On the remix side, another label debut with Quizak morphing Jawbreaker into a less spiky proposal, definitely winking at freer dance exercises, while Ghilix turns “Clinch” into a hypnotic driver, opposite of Rita Maomenos’ take which reinterprets it with non-linear rhythm all around.

As always, we’re proud of this one.

PREMIERE: Narrow Peak  - Clinch (Gilhix Remix) [ELBEREC]

Our second premiere of the day comes from Robin Wylie as he features on Belfast label, Computer Controlled Controlled Records. Robin has been pushing boundaries producing dubstep and breaks, but now he features on the first digital release Nez’s imprint alongside Hezzaine as they provide three impeccable electro cuts.

Following the analogue-fuelled, sci-fi electro soundscapes of Hungarian producer Norwell’s Interkosmos EP, Computer Controlled Records next record is a little closer to home.

Robin Wylie is a producer synonymous with wicked breakbeats, 2-step and jungle with a refreshing take on electronic music in his home of Belfast. A pace-setter in every regard, Robin’s work alongside dubstep pioneer J:Kenzo as Polarity is to be particularly admired, bringing labels like Sneaker Social Club for their debut in a city usually dominated by house and techno.

Now the pair join forces again (the latter under his Hezzaine moniker), this time on Nez’s Computer Controlled Records, serving up three raw cuts of tough, acid-dipped electronics and lairy UK-electro energy.

Inspired by the 1975 Doctor Who character Davros, ‘Davros on Acid’ is an otherworldly, sludged-out trip through Planet Skaro, ear-wriggling synth lines and malfunctioning bleep and bloops providing the listener with a tumbling Alice-In-Wonderland sonic experience; blasting off through the outer-rims of space as dotted stars turn to streaks of white light, landing on a planet ethereal and previously unexplored.

‘Timelines’ is a clubbier cut; a tough bass-trip whose beauty is channeled through its simplicity. Sometimes less is more, that much is evident on this tough cut of screw-face, peak-time electro, before ‘Dynamics’ ventures down a more melodic route, maintaining its acidic energy and blending it with an alien, atmospheric dreamscape for a softer experience as we come into land.

Four Four Premiere: Robin Wylie - Timelines [Computer Controlled Records]

The notorious Glasgow producer, Fear-E is back on Hilltown Disco, after originally appearing on the Dundee imprint in 2019, this time with 4 tracks of techno-infused electro, plus a dance-floor geared remix on the A-side from one of the original Hilltown Disco collectives, J Wax.

Fear-E runs wild, broadcasting apocalyptical electro sounds, creating a seriously heavy-duty record to soundtrack the end of society in worlds not too dissimilar to earth. Punchy kicks, disturbing vocals from the mystical Mike James, and venomous sirens create a fresh take on the sound.

It's all in the game yo!
