The Year was 1999, and my Buddy and fellow Crate Digger, "HE3" was the first person I heard speak Her Name! Yep, HE3 basically told me that "Jill Scott had Next!" Coming from anyone else I might have just shrugged it off. But this was the guy that turned me on to The Roots at least a year before they Hit in '95, and he turned me on to Countless other Hip-Hop, Soul and Jazz tunes that became Instant Classics. So, thats when I began to get Hyped! Especially after hearing (MC) Black Thought of (The Mighty Roots Crew) give Ms. Scott Major "Props" on their album "The Roots Come Alive" on the tune 'You Got Me' (Cowritten by Jill) where we first heard the term: "Ms. Jilly from Philly!" So to say I was excited about her debut album which came out in the summer of 2000 was a Huge Understatement. Jill's debut album was so Good and it seemed it was in everybody's CD player that Summer. And as a DJ I always loved the fact that Jill wasn't afraid of a Good Remix and her early stuff had some Bangin' Remixes for sure. On This Set I tried to find some Mixes that are new to her Catalogue and some of her lesser known Jams. Over the years some really good DJ's have done some funky "JS" tributes so I wanted to at least play a couple of Newbies... So Plug in those Phones and get ready to Ride with The Great: "Jilly from Philly!"
