From last July, Occupy-affiliated protestors on Independence Mall adopted the time-honored human microphone tradition to recover the owner a lost electronic device.

To pass the final minutes before same-sex marriages became legal at midnight, Beth Asaro and partner of 27 years, Joanne Schailey danced to Shania Twain. Asaro said she was singing so she wouldn't faint.

This is one of those clips of audio that didn't fit in a story I was working on. 

Caitlin is 7 years old. Her father, Israel Resendiz-Hernandez is on a hunger strike in an immigration detention center in central Pennsylvania.

Resendiz-Hernandez is a felon, because he reentered the country after a prior deportation. That time, his family says he had returned to Mexico for a final visit to his dying father and was caught and turned back by the border patrol in Arizona on his way back into the U.S.

Earlier this week, Caitlin was outside of Immigration and Customs Enforcement's office in Philadelphia with a group of other family-members of men in detention. This is what she had to say when she was handed a megaphone.

Today he lives outside the city and works as a day laborer.
