''Be Still' embodies the delicious feeling of falling into bed with your partner after a long day, allowing yourselves to rest in each others' arms. The track sounds like a 2022 version of the Spice Girls, if they shagged a jazz musician and then recorded a song about it in their bedroom studio. Prepare to float away while listening to 'Be Still,' and don't forget to watch the time-lapse video showing how the art was made!

You're Mean started off as a joke-song while I was trying to process my feelings after a one-night-stand went terribly wrong. It turned out to be such a fun burst of energy that I decided to get some live guitars on it to make it a Weezer-esque feminist bop. Now it's my own personal indie-rock anthem for whenever anyone pisses me off. I hope it becomes yours too!

You're Mean

Red flags are a concept often joked about in popular culture, but for people stuck in toxic, abusive relationships, identifying a ‘bouquet’ of red flags in the relationship can help build the confidence needed to leave a harmful situation. It takes women an average of 7 tries to leave an abusive partner, and I wrote this song not only to express my own personal experience, but to give confidence to those women/people trying to get out of their situation.

Written about the romance and longing that long-distance relationships bring, ‘Lighthouse’ features acoustic piano as well as 3 voices, blending together like the waves at sea. Reminiscent of Joni Mitchell and Phoebe Bridgers, the song starts off like a calm shore and leaves you in the stormy waters.

Pulling Away is about the grief of indirectness. When someone stops  looking at you the way they did before… when you know something has changed for them but they haven’t said anything directly. It’s painful, it’s torture! And there is nothing you can do but let go of the dreams of togetherness you had so delicately cradled.

Imaginary friend is about loving someone, feeling their presence around you, and having them play an active part in your life even when they are no longer physically with you. Through sound samples and a spoken vocal quality, this song attempts to bring memory, love, and grief into the visceral reality of every day life - I hear your laugh in the hot water boiling and I feel your arms around me in the wind…

Imaginary Friend

Eclipse is a love-song that I wrote about my partner, blending in themes of celestial bodies and of course, the moon. It is sensual and slow-moving, with reverberant guitars and layered vocal harmonies. I am also proud to say that I completely wrote, produced, recorded, and mixed this song myself, with only the final layer of mixing polish from my friend Sydney Galbraith. Coming out on the day of the 2024 Eclipse!

Eclipse

I laughed with joy when I found this song in my old files. I produced this when I was in my first or second year at york university in 2008/2009. It's just so crazy to me because at the time I really felt like I was a bad producer - I left the course really comparing myself to others and feeling stuck, like I wasn't 'getting it.' Contrast to yesterday, finding this and just dancing and laughing and really loving this track and being proud of it. I forgot that I'm actually a wicked producer and I want to own that! Hope you enjoy :)
