Echo Chamber opens with the hammering of a single note like Morse code. It’s a melodic plaint driven by a syncopated piano rhythm that creates a mesmerizing robot-like vibe. Fitting, as this song intended for an AI character in a scifi musical co-written by long-time musical collaborators Kele Fleming & Ron Yamauchi. Some say that social media is the ultimate echo chamber - it connects us with like-minded people while blocking divergent viewpoints. This can do tricky things to our sense of reality & truth, not to mention self image.

With its infectious melody, emotional lyrics and expert production (Dan Cox, Urchin Studios) and creative mastering (Stephen Kerrison, Weird Jungle Collective), ‘Bizarre Blood’ showcases Emma and the Fragment's signature sound; driving backbeats, rhythmic indie guitars and Emma’s bright and pure vocals.

Inspired by Emma’s childhood experiences, the lyrics tell the story through to adulthood. It explores the impact of a mental health disorder on a child and themes of anxiety, apprehension and isolation. Culminating in the declaration of the chorus, is it nature or nature and fear of inheriting the same disorder.

Speaking about the new single Emma said, “We are excited to share the single with our fans. The song is really important to us, and we think it is a great introduction to our upcoming EP.”

The genre of the song is indie rock/post punk, inspired by bands like the Editors and Florence and the Machine.

Bizarre Blood

EEmma and the Fragments are an energetic female-fronted indie rock band based in East London. Formed in 2012 by founding member Emma, she leads the band on vocals with Donn on guitar, Jon on drums and latest addition Jonny on bass. 

Emma and the Fragments have made a name for themselves with their hard-edged indie rock and released 4 singles across 2021 to critical acclaim – Circle of Concern, Part of the Wildlife, Back to Blue and Proper Everything from the forthcoming EP ‘Smile ‘Til It. Hurts’ 

Inspired by 90s indie rock the band take their influences one step further, exploring a mulititude of styles from pop to metal, and display a sound that at times is both dark and brooding or light and fun, complete with catchy melodies and driving guitars. Their music would be equally at home in the playlists of both the most ardent The Cure fan, or a serious lover of Circa Waves, Foals or The Mysterines.

In addition to last year’s single releases they have signed a record deal with London based label Regent Street Records, hosted their own sold out day festival ‘FRAGFEST’ and have recently won the Wigwam Radio Best Indie Rock Act 2021 Award against fierce competition.

2022 is set to be even bigger for the band with new releases and live shows coming across the year
