20 years ago, during the week of my 20th birthday, I spent a few days maxing out my cash advance limit on my credit card to buy a pair of Technic 1200's, a shitty mixer, and a stack of even shittier records. It was the best (mis)use of credit card debt I can think of.

When I picked the "Emmerse" alias some time after buying the decks, it was a play on my last name and the type of sound I wanted to play: dark, groovy, beautiful, deep, and timeless. I wanted to curate an expansive space to get lost in. Now, as I turn 40, this mix is very close to that space I've been seeking. Over the years, I've dabbled in many different genres, but this particular progressive house sound was always home base.

The elements in this mix layer in heavy, with deep grooves echoing from the nether regions of the galaxy. It's a push and pull of relentless ascension to start, an unexpected pause in the middle to regroup, and a final blast off to end.

"Full Circle" is a return to your first love, to your home, to the place you belong.

Passage Gathering is a boutique music festival held deep in the Alabama woods each Fall. It has become a cherished event for those who attend, myself included. It's a family reunion, a place for radical self-expression, a unique camping experience, and a showcase of top-notch DJs all in one.

This year, I was asked to close the main stage on night one. I knew I wanted to take the sounds into soaring melodic places by the end of the night to start the weekend on a high note, but not without giving an early nod to the darker, tribal vibes the deep woods demands. 

I was unsure whether the minimal/funky house heads in attendance would go along with me for this ride, but could not have been more happy (and relieved) with the overwhelmingly positive reception. The power and versatility of progressive house got to shine that night, and I'm grateful I had the opportunity to share this music, and the moment, with everyone there.

Passage Gathering 2022

There are three conditions to make it on the Top 25 episode: 
1. The track must have been purchased in the past year, but doesn't have to be released within the year. The 4th cut was released in 2004 😵‍💫
2. The track is a Certified Banger™ and simply has to be included, or
3. The track has a specific memory from the year tied to it. 

This year was dominated by progressive house, but there are a few deep tracks on list as well to warm things up. We hit the gas about 30 minutes in and don't let up until the end.
