Octoboss

A famous piece by Erik Satie, an unusual Parisian composer. 'Gymnopedi' could mean 'dance', and this piece is part of a set of three written in 1888. It is perfect for the harp's rich, resonant sound.

Debussy is one of my favourite composers, and so here is a recording of meandering moment on a rainy day where I just enjoy exploring my own version of this beautiful tune.

Girl With Flaxen Hair Improvisation

Satie wrote Gymnopedi as a set of three, and so, as a true die-hard fanatical fan of his work, I have delved into the entire Gymnopedi piece and here is the second movement.

An ancient folk melody by Ireland's famous blind harpist Turlough O'Carolan. The title translates as "Small fairy mound, big fairy mound" - "Si" means fairy mound in Irish Gaelic.

Si Bheag Si Mhor

This is an impromptu, outdoor improvisation in a friend's garden. You'll notice the wind, and the sudden interruption when someone arrives. 

I was very inspired by the freedom of playing outdoors in a sunny, blustery Autumn breeze, clouds scudding overhead and fiery morning energy. I had learned a Bjork song just before.
