empey is a hip-hop and R&B record producer and songwriter, from Derby. He had his first nationwide success with ‘Aim High’, a song he produced for grime legend, Wiley in 2010. The track featured on Wiley’s surprise EP ‘The Zip Files’ and was described by The Guardian as ‘the highlight’ of the collection.  In 2012, empey followed up with another national sensation ‘Child of the Ghetto’ - A song he produced for the acclaimed alt-soul singer-songwriter KOF from Liverpool, the single was placed on the ‘A playlist’ at BBC Radio 1Xtra and also made several appearances on BBC Radio 1. At the end of 2014 empey released an eagerly anticipated song after absence, called 'Go'... This was supported by BBC Radio 1Xtra and BBC Introducing in the Midlands. He has since had support from the same BBC stations with his song 'Hear Me', which features both emerging and established urban artists such as Eyez, Dubzy, Rukus, Kobi Onyame and Manga.

As a producer, empey (often referred to as ‘empeyzee’) has also produced for various other recording artists, such as ‘Let it Go’ rapper Rukus, and Glasgow’s Kobi Onyame to name a few. Empey was mentored by and taken under the wing of the legendary UK hip-hop producer Baby J in 2008. Then in 2009, he won the BBC Performing Arts Fund.

His aptitude and inspiration stems from his musical journey and influences, including Pharrell Williams/The Neptunes, Ryan Leslie and 7 Aurelius.
