We’re five volumes in on freshly Dipped and not slowing down! January blues is officially shut down. On offer is four slabs of booty magic to enhance DJ sets and keep heads nodding.

We kick off proceedings with @crashparty re-working the classic "Calyx & Teebee - Pure Gold" joint. A decade on, it’s been given some mid-tempo fairy dust, jacking it up a notch and giving it a whole new vibe.

Next up @RoastBeatz takes the tempo down with a sleazy funk-fuelled banger. He’s utilised Blue Cantrell’s vocals to give her “Hit Em Up Style” a breath of fresh air and give your neck muscles a January workout.

@mr-fitzz has a busy year scheduled with Cuttin’ It Fine. So, what better way to start than shedding some Tearz in the form of a rework of "Wendy Rene’s" Stax banger. This will become a staple for many DJ’s in 2022.

Lastly, @frankee_more has managed to re-funk 50 cents “In Da Club” Not many would successfully pull this off, but he’s switched up the beat and bassline while re-working the hook for a different perspective on a seminal banger.

This mischievous kitty has been a long time coming and arrives in time to kick off 2024.  Prior to the inception of the Empresarios, the group’s vocalists were integral members of the renowned DMV-based Reggaeton group, MAFU Crew.  As reggaetón and perreo go global, it's only fitting that these seasoned vocalists return to their roots and bring forth a refined fusion of experience and innovation in their newest release, "Gatita Mala." 

Gatita Mala is a love song cautioning against that irresistibly tempting person.  The track’s vocals are expertly lead by Frankie Rosado who’s laid back swagger effortlessly embraces the reggaetón rhythm. Frankie’s lyrics are full of clever innuendos and dives into realms of intimacy and indulgence, such as the flirtatious allure of getting adventurous after smoking some krippy.  Felix “El Doble” Perez comes in with the slick verse to seal the deal, complementing his vocal partner smoothly. The long-time collaborators’ voices meld seamlessly, creating a melodic masterpiece. 

In addition to the original reggaeton rendition of the track, the Empresarios also offer a Downtempo Version and a remix by Dr. Diubell.  The original's horns and piano take center stage in the Downtempo Version, as the hip-hop beats make way for a more stripped-down percussive arrangement, taking the track to afterhours territory. The final track included is for the Salseros, the Dr. Diubell Remix includes lively horns in the Salsa version of this infectious track. With the various iterations of Gatita Mala, the Empresarios once again transcend genres and bring their Tropicaliente flair to this strong single.

There is no shortage of creativity among these talented musicians and DJs and their influences, from downtempo, dub, Latin, house, trip-hop and reggaeton can all be heard in their definitive, eclectic sound.
