This is a musical setting of "I Am!", a poem by John Clare. It was written around 1845 while he was in a mental asylum. The poem addresses a separation he feels from others due to his illness, and a hope that heaven will bring him peace.

I wrote the music on guitar, which is not common for me. Although I intend to perform this song on synthesizer, I decided to make a casual recording to document its original incarnation.

I hope that making my learning progress public will inspire me to work on music more. I make a lot of sounds that I never give to people because they're not finished and they won't be finished. The process of making noise sometimes means more to me than a polished product, so here's a place for me to publish these experiments.
