The origin of this particular track can be traced back to 1992, when similar song was rejected by my then-band (A Herd Of The Rushing Vises) in which I played on a borrowed bass guitar (I couldn't afford my own instrument at that time). The lyrics refer to my hometown, the frustration of running around in circles, and a kind of artistic stagnation (or the syndrome of burnout). Enjoy!

This track is my response to “Lullaby” recorded by The Cure on their epic album “Disintegration” from 1989. It was a very popular song, often played on the radio, but it irritated me from the very beginning. So, I started thinking: “how can I improve that song to make it more enjoyable for me?” First, I wanted to change the structure of this song by adding some kind of chorus. Then, I also wanted to change the lyrics accordingly so that Robert’s arachnophobia (fear of spiders) could be replaced by my own ophidiophobia (fear of snakes). Finally, I decided to change the melody and instrumental arrangements to more “gruesome” ones, and a completely new song was created. I hope that Robert won't mind... Enjoy!

"Proxy War" is an opening track of the B-side studio album "Bloody Rituals" released in June of 2025 by Hanging Graveyard (duo of two brothers: Michael Walczak and Kamil Walczak). Their music is described as gothic metal, while guitar-driven compositions are carried by instrumental parts blended with lyrical essentialism. The lyrics of this song refer to a certain war on a distant front: "Dehumanize yourself / Stripped of morality / Regretful guilt and shame / Your homesick agony...".
