It's fair to say that Tim Bernhardt, aka Satin Jackets, has kept himself busy the last 18 months. Whilst much of the music industry's been locked down, the nu-disco star's released a series of acclaimed singles and forged several new connections. One of which, his partnership with up & coming UK vocalist Tailor is already paying dividends. "Spell is about letting yourself deep dive into the unknown with someone," explains the British singer. "You don't know where you're both headed, but still you're willing to just surrender yourself to the journey and float off together into the unknown."

Blessed with one of those voices that you feel as much as hear, Tailor delivers a stunning performance on 'Spell', perfectly capturing the song's seductive, yearning vibe. At the same time Bernhardt produces one of his finest tracks in recent years allowing Tailor's vocals the space to breathe, burnishing them with seductive synths washes, subtle flourishes and a dreamy beat.

Having clocked up more than 60 million streams on Spotify alone for his 2019 album 'Solar Nights', Bernhardt has gone from strength to strength, releasing a string of singles and EPs throughout 2020 and '21 from classic instrumental nu-disco though to hit collaborations with the likes of Australian indie star Panama and new talent such as Tailor.

Featuring three brand new instrumental tracks, the 'Golden Cage' EP sees Bernhardt venture into more introspective territory, eschewing the more upfront pop direction of recent collaboration with Panama, 'Electric Blue', for something softer and more intimate. 

'Meridian Gateway' delivers the kind of optimistic yet wistful melodies that Bernhardt has time and time again shown himself to be a master of. Built around a series of poignant piano notes the track gently unfolds and reveals itself, shimmering like the first frost of the year catching the morning's rays.

After the huge success of his 2nd album Solar Nights, Tim Bernhardt, AKA Satin Jackets, kicked off 2020 with a return to his nu-disco roots releasing a series of sublime instrumental singles. Now, having soundtracked the summer with hit collaborations with Metaxas and Panama, Tim caps a year like no other with a final instrumental release, the contemplative and wistful ‘A Higher Place’.

"'A Higher Place' is a track I wrote to evoke certain memories, specifically those that give me a feeling of elevation, of being lifted up. I wanted to bottle that feeling up so I could return to it when I needed a moment of reflection," explains Tim. "So for me this song is a time capsule of sorts, a souvenir of how I felt over the summer and now with the days drawing in and autumn in full force, I can return to it and sustain myself off those memories again."

A soft, gentle track, ‘A Higher Place’ combines calming synth washes with a sparkling melody, uplifting pianos and short snippets of delicate vocals to create a warm, nostalgic feeling. In the instagram version of your life, where you haven't spent the last 10 months staring at the same 4 walls, it's the kind of track that would be playing in a soft focus video where you and all your beautiful friends are dancing and laughing in a beautifully lit garden.
