El-B - Live at GetDarker 10YRS [Cross Club, Prague] - 28.01.2017

I've decided to start a new mix series called History Hits. Each mix will be themed and feature tracks from my vinyl collection.

Kicking things off is Broken Beat. This mix contains some well established classics of the genre and a bunch of my own personal favourites that don't necessarily get a lot of attention when Broken Beat is discussed. This isn't supposed to be a definitive run-down or anything like that, but I believe each one of these records stands the test of time and deserves to be heard by as many people as possible.

It was a pretty tight knit scene, so you'll see the same producer and label names come up again and again - Seiji, I.G. Culture, Dego, Bitasweet, Main Squeeze etc... but there was a true variety of styles and sounds in these records that is quite rare for any music scene. Some of my first professional club gigs were playing with the Futureboogie crew in Bristol back in the early 2000s, and these were the kinds of tracks I played out at the time.
