אביחיל ראובן, מפקד כיתה בגדוד 890 של צנחנים עלה על מדים לקח איתו נשק ומחסנית והחליט לרוץ מביתו לכיוון עוטף עזה לאחר ששמע על המתרחש שם. כדי להגן בכל מחיר על המדינה, תוך מימוש הערכים שחשובים לו כלוחם וכמפקד.

לפני מספר חודשים במהלך הסופש נתתי טרמפ לקצין מדוגם בתחנה רנדומלית לאחר שעשה ביקור בבית של אחד המפקדים שמשרתים במחלקה שעליה הוא מפקד.
הקצין הזה היה אביחיל . 

הטראק נכתב בהשראת המעשה מעורר ההשראה של אביחיל באותו יום, הריצה בשדות, המלחמה בזיקים, כפר עזה ובארי, לולא אומץ ליבו - היינו מאבדים עוד המון נשמות יקרות במתקפה על הדרום.
